My wife and i must return to my homeland. i have one year left on i phone 5 contract and four months on my lease. the phone will not be usable or needed in my homeland and i assume i will lose my deposits when i leave. That does not matter to me. But is there anything my landlord or the cell phone company can or will do to try to collect any balance they believe is owed?
How would they be able to collect anything from you if you are not in the country anymore, it's very nice of you to worry about this things but I really don't think they will come after you... I personally would have the phone "Jailbroken"(unlocked) and bring it with me to use in my country...
Step up to the plate and pay your contractual obligations if they can not be negotiated to a lesser price. If you pay your rent you will get your deposit back according to the rental agreement. I phones works all over the world, so just pay what you owe and enjoy your I Phone5. Avoid being reported to BI for leaving this country without fulfilling your obligations. You maybe like to come to Philippines, and if you do make sure you have a CLEAN RECORD. It is always nice to be nice, so do what you have to do and make your wife proud of your honest actions. GOOD LUCK!
I think my contract of lease has the wording that if I default the lease or leave before time, the landlord just get to keep my deposit. so reread your lease and see if that is the case. For the cell phone - just go to Smart / Globe and ask them what you can do to get out early, they might have an escape plan where you pay a small amount to get out.
