Hi everyone, I'm in Malaysia at the moment doing a visa run after staying 6 months in the Philippines. I am married to a filipina and know that I can apply for a 13a however I'm not really interested in staying here for a year at a time. So my question is to ALL the married guys out there, are any of you "married" but still on a "tourist" visa? And is having a 13a compulsory after staying here after a certain amount of years if your married? Nico
Hey, if you want to make a visa run every 6 months go for it. You can do that indefinitely. Most tend to go a year at least between visa runs... Larry
Hi Larry, thanks for your reply. Are you saying that even a "MARRIED" person can enter the Philippines on a "tourist visa and leave the country every 12 or 16 months indefinately without needing to apply for 13a status? I do know that a "SINGLE" person could do that indefinately, but does it also apply to a foreigner married to a filipina? Nico
I been married here for over 20 years and always stayed as a tourist until i semi retired last year when i got my 13a visa..
Doesnt matter if you are single or married. You can do the tourist visa indef. Best to get out before 12 months to avoid extra paperwork on the tourist visa. If you leave with your wife and return you can get a bulikbayan that's good for 12 months for free. Flights to Malaysia are dirt cheap, you'll end up saving money if you go that route.
Just get a balakan stamp on your passport when you and your wife enter the country, its good for unlimited exit and re entry for a year, you dont have to run to immigration every other month, you dont have to worry about the acri card or renewing it. also goo idea to get a philippine driver license. i now travel and never worry about taking my passport everywhere, just us license and expired acri card for id.
A balikbayan stamp is good for one year. If you leave the country, you cannot re-enter on it. If you have your wife with you again, then you will get another stamp good for one year. It is single entry, it is not "unlimited exit and re-entry". Larry
