Sad to say but if I use less, that does not mean that someone who has less will get more. There may be more available, possibly at a lower price, which some other comparatively wealthy consumer will snap up and use, and the little guy still wont get it, will he? Communism didn't work in the country it was born in although they tried really hard. Part of the problem was that while everyone was equal, a select few were more equal than everyone else, just like in any other country.

I was raised being told you finish whatever is on your plate but as an adult if whatever I get comes with fries I only eat a few because I detest cold fries. If I ate them all, it would not make things better for anyone else in the world, unless it be my heirs because I was less healthy for eating all the fries and they would inherit sooner.

I'm glad you still care Simple Mind. I think it does get to you on some level or you wouldn't have mentioned it or your reference to old guys not giving a sh@!t before giving anyone a chance to reply, who knows what they might have said had you not said that. But I think we have reached a turnover point where all you can do is make what personal difference you can and everyone else will do whatever they want to do. A durable good like a luxury SUV doesn't bother me, it will probably be cared for and last many years and probably outlast four cheap crap cars that aren't maintained because they are crap. Some people look at things in different ways. Just have a good day in spite of it all.

SM, your points are probably valid but your presentation was a bit terse and condescending. Still, by venting some of that anger you might have a better day.

I have mostly good days, look guys, you think this is something personal, it's not, if you switch off your mind to this kind of development, you don't make the problem go away.
Like "robert k" writes, we are at a turning point, I am mostly disappointed by the lack of common sense and logic, if you drive a BIG vehicle, you pollute BIG, you can twist and turn it as much as you want, don't fool yourself, I live here since 99' without a car and have not missed one.
Nobody can deny the facts, that when you burn something you get pollutants and you get heat, your Pick Ups and SUVs are BIG vehicles with 2.5-3liter EFI or Diesel engines, diesel cars don't have catalitic converters and pollute much more, the largest sized car I personally owned was 1.6liter EFI, 7liters/100km. it was a hatchback or combi that could carry 5 people and a lot of stuff inside and on top on the roof-rack.
Bigger is not better if you did not get it yet, Bigger is only greedier...
