My partner,s son has been bed ridden sense the age of 6 and now is 14 year old, over the last weekend he became sick with a bad breathing problem , he was in the medical centre for a week a month ago. On sunday last at 10 pm we took him to the medical centre the head nurse advised us to put him in I.C.U. witch we did. At 11pm the doctor came and told us sign a waver and they would stop treatment as she could dot help him any more, we signed and they stoped all medication but left the life support on . My partner asked for it be turned off also they told her the account must be paid before they could turn it off . I could not get money till 9am and asked how much it will be at 9am i was told 20 th peso, i arrived back at the medical centre at 9.30 am only to be told it was now 25th peso, by the time i got back with the 25th at 11am they said billing was on lunch ,at one pm we got to pay now it was 27th so i paid and was then told the doctor also had to be paid 2400p (that was for a one 5 minute visit). we could not clame phillhealth as you have 2 months between claims. So they turned off the support and we took him home to die. He did not last the trip home. more fun in the philippines
Sad to hear about the loss. For instances like this you should contact the person in charge of the hospital. They were simply seeing pesos in this situation. No 5 minute consultation costs 2400 pesos. Greedy aholes. Care to share the doctors name here?
Thanks for the kind words, I have a meeting with D.T I tomorrow morning im asking for a face off with some one from admin. of the M.C ill let you know how i go . cheers
My sincerest condolences, sorry to hear about your loss as well as how you've been treated by the medical staffs. What a shame :-(.
Sorry for your loss. Hopefully your meeting goes well and something good eventually comes out of this.
Condolences for the loss Alex, I can imagine how you feel with this treatment, it sucks to say the least. I have been told on many occasions if you can get to Cebu do it, as much cheaper and much better treatment there. I know a few people who have been there and said it is much more like western medicine and a third of the price, unlike this city when only $ matter and not a life!
Sorry for the loss of a child, deepest condolences. These bastards prey on the grief of the family and loved ones. I know it's cold blooded, but the only way to have dealt with this situation would have been to tell the hospital that the deceased was indigent and the hospital would be responsible for the burial if they didn't release the body.
I think the correct way of doing this, is to have somebody with you that can organize the money right away, this policy of wanting the bill to be paid before they release the patient has been know for a long time... Sorry for your loss...
Sympathies for your loss, and the grief that your partner is going through now. Could you let us know which particular hospital is involved ?
