Not sure, but I think someone said the project has been shelved due to lack of funds......

I'm pretty sure it is on the property of the current South Seas Resort in Bantayan, a bit south of Silliman Beach but I haven't driven by there in a while so I'm not sure about any actual progress. Many here are skeptical that it will never happen.

I don't think anybody who lives here and has a bit common sense knew from the first day that this will not materialize in our life.
Just saw last week at the boulevard a poster about a new 12 floor building at the boulevard with infinity pool at the roof-top. yeah right... will be a tough race between SM, infinity pool and South medical City

Four years ago, I heard the same comments about Robinson's Mall. I guess it is just a question of patience.

Your ears tricked you. Look at the first announcements and first computer-graphics of Robinsons and what finally came out. not much similarities.

By the way 4 years ago, Robinsons was already up (much smaller than planed though) and soon to open (nov 09). Maybe it is a question of proper hearing.
Ii time proofs me wrong, feel invited to have a swim in the infinity pool on the top of a 12 storey building at the boulevard waterfront and witness my ear-check at the South See Medical City

You sound a lot like a guy from Bacolod, that was connected to a Hearing Aid Clinic, if I come to think of it, I actually have not seen anything from that guy in quite a while...

You are right, Black Abbot, my mistake. It has been almost 4 years since Robinsons opened (November 23, 2009), how tme flies. however, as I stated, when I joined this forum in 2007 there were many stating the same as you, that it would never happen. I would drive by the construction site and not see much action then, all of a sudden, it took shape. Regardless of opinions, I think it is quite impressive for a town as small as Dumaguete and I am as surprised as many that it hasn't folded. I am guessing that the delay in construction was as much a part of the marketing strategy (the in-fight between Robinson's and SM) as construction problems like the results of the soil testing delays. I am still optimistic that the South Sea Medical City will eventually take shape also and maybe even the condominium building on the boulevard; at least, I hope so. However, this evening, I drove to South Seas Resort, and you may be right; there is no sign of construction in that area (unless I am also wrong about the location.

By the way, my wife's Uncle was one of the electrical supervisors in the construction of Robinson's Dumaguete and was giving me progress updates even though many of the members of this Forum were stating that it would never be built. He has also told me that he will be working on the Condominium complex that is supposed to be part of the Medical facility but I haven't heard anything recently.

The only reason why the construction stopped is that Robinsons never paid the original constructor, which was a german company. The new company build a much smaller version.

I am actually not surprised or impressed about the mall. it is a 3rd class mall, with a half way decent movie theater and two below-average ones. Even the movies are usually a week late if they ever come to Dumaguete.
Cloth are all the last years collections, which could not be sold in the other malls. (compare brand name shops of Dumaguete with the same shops in other cities). For me personally the mall has 2.5 positive points. 1 the second hand book shop, 2. air-con during brownout. 2.5 if a good movie comes to Dumaguete before available to download in good quality, cinema 1 at the earliest screening is acceptable. later screening are too many cellphone - addicts there.

I believe you are right with the location at South Sea. I also believe there might be a condo or something like that there in a few years. I don't think there will be anything close to a decent medical facility or even latest standard hospital with 100 beds there.

I need to disagree with the condo at the boulevard. I don't want to see a 12 storey building there. For me Bethel and the old Globe building are about as high it should be max. And knowing the colour-favourits of philippino architects, I don't want to see a yellow-pink-green 60 meter high eye-sore at the boulevard. C&L is already bad enough...

Anyway, time will tell. If no swim at in infinity pool, we still can have a jump in the ocean at high tide
