I am curious about these Philippine doctors who can just look at someone and say they have aids, how would they tell the difference between aids and say, malnutrition and some other tropical viral infection?

That thought crossed my mind too, Robert. Obviously none of these hospitals even took the time to run a blood test (he had no money so they couldn't be bothered). People do not die from aids itself, they die from infections that are uncontrollable when the immune system can no longer fight them off.

What Infections Do People With AIDS Get?

People with AIDS are extremely vulnerable to infection, called AIDS-defining illnesses, and often exhibit the following conditions:

Kaposi's sarcoma, a skin tumor that looks like dark or purple blotches on the skin or in the mouth
Mental changes and headaches caused by to fungal infections or tumors in the brain and spinal cord
Shortness of breath and difficulty breathing because of infections of the lungs
    Dementia
    Severe malnutrition
    Chronic diarrhea

Sad to hear that your country doesn't give a damned sh*t for their own citizens. Other countries do.

The embassy will take over the costs for examination, certainly will try to get the money back from the family, but they would take care first before some hyperactive people burn and ship evidence...

Seems you are directly involved in the "Club" or simply refuse using brain. if they do the same with a citizen from other countries they certainly get into deep sh*t with burn and ship police. This is not against any activities of that club, but a simple advice.

On a private note, if I die some day with signs and symptoms of a deadly disease, I surely want that this is examined, simply to have family, friends and the people I was in touch with in a clear position.

No, I'm not part of the club (but I may become one after seeing what they did). I just give credit where credit is due. These people did the best they could with what they had to work with. Seems you think it would have been better to let him rot in the church, or perhaps drag him to the street? Nobody else was going to do anything. YOU did not offer any help or alternatives, you did nothing to help (as did I) yet you criticize them for doing something, while I give them credit for being of help. Makes me wonder...

I'm guessing you were a member of this forum before under a different alias, someone whose ideals were not very popular and no longer participates...

That sounds like a cop-out by Holy Child because, unless there is some sort of local epidemic, I have not known Holy Child to be full and they are usually eager to get people into private rooms as a revenue generator. However, that is all in the past now. It's good that his family in the U.S. reacted so quickly and they can now get closure on the event. But they may not have known about it for quite some time if you guys had not taken it upon yourselves to do something about it. So well done and thanks to all concerned. Top marks.

This was a difficult and rare situation the group here had to deal with, I doubt there was a precedent to follow that anyone involved had any experience with. The fact is they did get involved and and did what they could do and I compliment them for that. May Joe rest in peace.

I was expecting to hear a little more about Joe.
Sad as Joe's story goe's it begs the question how he ended/ arrives in Dumaguete and the state he was discovered in?
Surely someone out there knows more,
    1, Where he was living?
2, How did he fall into such poor health without anyone noticing?
3, With so little money in his pocket, was he homeless was he begging at some point?
4, or was he thrown out on to the streets when his money ran out?
These are the questions/ answers, I would expect the police to find out.
Once again Joe rest in peace.
