I am going on Monday to get the exit clearance. I should be back by Wednesday if you can wait for the information. The information will be up to date at least. Let me know.

    Trip postponed

My trip has been postponed, but should have information by the end of the week. There is another tread on here about exit clearance that may be helpful to you.

I got mine done this morning in Cebu. The need for it to be done is frustrating, as is the constant changing of the rules, although I got there at 9.30 and was done by 10.20. The dress code still applies. You need your passport and 3 (not 2) passport photos 2" x 2", your ACR-I card, plus the details of your outbound flight and the date, although proof is not asked for.

    1. Fill out the ECC form.
    2. Then go outside to a shabby little shack next door where you can get your ACR card photo copied back and front.
    3. Take the ECC form plus 3 photos plus the photocopied ACR to the lawyers office next door to the shack. This office also acts as the Philippines Retirement Authority. The form now has to be notarised !!!!! at a cost of 150 peso. This office will also photo copy your ACR card and take passport photos for you if you don't have them (naturally at an inflated cost).
    4. Take the notarised form back to the Immigration office and deposit it, with your passport, at whichever window is indicated by whoever is on duty just inside the door. They will check it and send you then to another window.
    5. Once checked, take everything to one of the cashiers windows and give them 500 pesos.
    6. Now sit down and quietly fume.
    7. When your name is called, go to the desk where your thumb prints are taken and entered on the ECC application form.
    8. Now sit down and quietly fume some more.
    9. Eventually your name will be called and you go to the release window and collect your passport, ECC and BIR receipt.
    10. Stop fuming and get the hell out of there before you're tempted to say what you're really thinking.

    Great Description

Great description of the process, and very exact. I arrived at 2 PM on Tuesday and left with everything done at 4 PM. It helps to have your passport in order. Also getting pictures here may save one more step there. I suggest you take a friend to talk to during the long waits. Everyone is friendly... it is just a Philippines' experience, where time has no value.

If you have to go to Cebu, going to S & R makes the trip a little more worthwhile, particularly if you are from the US. S & R is the "Costco" of the Philippines. It has many of the same brands and products as
Costco US. The prices are not discounted but the products are of Costco good quality standards, including some foods, meats and vegetables. If you want to feel like you are in the US, then walk down the aisles (you can get a free pass in) there is a membership fee if you buy something. I think it is about 600 P but do not fully remember (open to correction by members here.)

Good luck with the process, and don't worry about it.
