A friend of ours (German) needs Blood (A -) , he is at the Holy Child with Dengue and needs it urgently, his name is Josef Schurrer, he is in room Ext.11 Thanks all
Can't help you I'm afraid, as I'm A+ and a variety of things stop me from donating anyway. A- is not that common amongst Filipinos but it is more readily available amongst Europeans, so I truly hope your friend can get some help soon.
Thanks "Broadside", we have found one person but unfortunately he is to old to donate, we have contacted quite a large number of people by texting but as you pointed out, this blood-type is quite rare in Asia. We got a link from somebody, American Association of the Philippines that addresses the problem but have not contacted them yet, from that website, "We are still endeavoring to help the community in this need - but ask that those who have this rare blood type, please do themselves - and the community - a service and register with our AAP office...the life you save may be your own! (Of course, we would like any and all to support our work by becoming a member of AAP - and you do not have to be American to join!) Much emphasis is to be placed on the fact that the RH Negative donor "pool" is drying up due to the shrinking of the expatriate community - as well as the aging of the community. (Those over 60 are not accepted as donors.) Also, despite the numbers on our list, there are often very few who are accepted as donors due to a variety of reasons - low hemoglobin, on medication, pregnant - or too much partying at time of need!" I am waiting at the moment for a up date on his condition. Thanks all
As of this noon his blood count increased to 72 from 68 yesterday, his Doctor thinks he will improve without a transfusion, I will keep you informed of his condition. Thanks again
As of this evening, his situation is unchanged, he still needs some blood to improve, he is stable at the moment, though... Thanks
During my visit at the Holy Child I was informed that there is a Filipino woman that is available to donate A-(negative) blood if it's needed, I also had the opportunity to have a brief talk with his woman Doctor (sorry, did not catch her name) that is a specialist on Dengue and she assured me that he is stable and most likely does not need a transfusion, interestingly his blood count is still going up and down between 68 to 83, the critical low would be 60, full recovery would be 100... Thanks, and I think this thread can be "un-sticked" now.
hey I have A- so if you will Need help send me a message, I am 22 and german. I'll booked my flight to Dumaguete on the 30th of September.
