Hi All, There are juvenile punks hanging around my house in Sibulan. Apparently, they wait for opportunity to climb my walls and get in, obviously, to steal and vandalise. My 63 y/o mom has been chasing them away with a machete, but they always come back. This is one of my reason why I am going home (currently in Spain). And no, barangay officials are no help at all. So, can anyone here give me a sound advice of what's the best thing to do? 1. Get a dog (Pitbull or Doberman) Where can I buy one 2. Buy a gun (I hope I don't need to shoot anyone) For a female, what sort of gun should I get? Is there a qualification? How do I get it license? Please only sound advice, gentlemen. I know many of you here have the same concerns. Thank you.
I'm a newbie in PI but as I understand it a foreigner can't own a gun here. Even if you could I would not recommend it for anyone unless you were well trained handling, shooting it, and self defense laws .. and this is coming from a pro gun life long owner in the US. Check the local gun stores and you may be able to find pepper spray. The good stuff is pretty potent. Not sure if they have it here but wasp and hornet spray is another alternative. I think a dog is your best bet though but can't tell you where to get one.
HI JustIn Time If you are not going to use it dont buy a gun , a big dog is a good start , i seen a expat house in sibulan that had a 220 volt wire installed on top of his fence , he put signs every few feet warning of this and has never had any problems. He told me he checker with local authorities and was told it was allowed . my mum could spell but i took after my dad
I used this in Bacolod it is very illegal especially if some kid dies in it, I got scared after one year use and disconnected it, but they didn’t know that, what is better is high voltage pulsing, a Cow electric fence will do the job, the mains power can easily be overcome with a blanket, where as the high voltage jumps through most insulators same as a car spark.
Get a high power air gun no license required, one of those pellets in the butt and they won’t be back, they will need surgery to remove it.
I also live in the Sibulan area and after having unwanted guests attempt to break in at 2am I installed a live wire. Prior to installation I consulted with my Attorney who told me it was perfectly legal. Everyone seems to know I have it and no further problems, as a result I sleep better nights. My fence is 8fet high with stainless steel spikes and the live wire. Should someone attempt to negotiate it they would not be a welcome visitor with obvious intent. In the end the issue may be retaliation from the criminals family.
Without a male presence in a household, it is quite a challenge regarding security. You are right not to recommend owning a gun just for anyone without proper training. But thanks for the advice.
I think you have to get a license for an air gun now, i did not have to get one when i got mine 7 years ago( it was 7000peso) but i heard they have changed the rules , gun shop will tell you. Be sure they sell air refills, the pellet are the same size as a 22cal and can kill ,good luck, be careful, watch the revenge factor, cheers my mother could spell but i took after dad
Hi Alex Thanks. I am getting a 4 month old American bully soon. Though it has to grow up first, and get trained. What I need is a quick solution, so I am considering electrified wiring.
