In the recent past I have bought some brandy/rum that had what I'd call a plastic cork in it. But any attempts to remove it just have it breaking into pieces and once even my breaking the neck of the bottle.. How do you get these out?? A wine cork puller isn't the way from my experience
Gabrielle, if they are the normal cork shape, I'm afraid they can only be removed using a cork puller. make sure the tip of the screw is completely through before you start pulling. With a plastic cork there's no chance for pieces of cork in the wine. Once you got the cork to move, turn the screw further to maximize the amount of thread inside the cork material. Apart from hammering it down into the bottle, that's the only way to get to your prize. BTW: How did you manage to break the neck of the bottle....???? Good luck and cheers, Vicmico
I was prying the dang plastic thing out of the bottle! Maybe it needs to be pushed into the bottle..it's not a device for slowing flow out of the bottle-you can't get a drop until the plastic piece is out
That contraption I'm not familiar with, I'm afraid. A small screwdriver would be my option but without eyeing the thing I cannot make a sensible suggestion. Sorry! Vicmico
Just a thought. Get some hot,hot water, dip the tip of the bottle for a minute. This will increase the effectiveness of whatever you are going to do,as the glass will expand.
My suggestion, if your life does not depend on the content of said bottle, don't buy that crap anymore...
I found those in a couple brands' bottles. I just buy the Filipino brands now instead of the imported
