Low Flying Albatross?? NO! Just this mornings incoming PAL Flight.

We get quite a few birds of varying sizes in our garden But at about 9.30am to-day we had a rather larger Species fly over, the lesser Spotted 737( or is That 757) flying at about 1000 to 1500 feet above our House, not frightened but a tad concerned at the low height it was, approaching Dumaguete over land (Junob) very Loud and then banking sharply, Heading for the City and then the sea obviously,

Just wondered if anyone else saw and heard it

JP, nice to see you around again. It might have been a former skipper of a Fat Albert who can't change his old habits.:p

 

They do that once in a while. I have been onboard one when they did. Quite and experience. You fly along side the mountain side coming from the north. You see the mountain houses to your right, same altitude. Then sharp right turn, followed by sharp left. Feels like the wingtip is touching the palm trees then :D

 

When they fly over the top of you up here when doing that, it feels like they are touching the palm trees too!

I have experienced that myself here flying very low, the engines were screaming, was headed sorta towards Cebu but banked right like it was going to circle around and land in Duma. didn't hear any thing about that one later.

 

Hey Jack. I may be incorrect, but me-thinks Cebu Pacific has a bunch of new pilots flying into DGTE lately. Why, you (didn't) ask? 'Cuz...I live some 25 klm north of Duma. For the past 6 yrs, almost every incoming flight would pass over Dewey Island (up in Bias) as they throttle down...and we could easily hear the craft's engines as it flew over over just west of our house on a SE line into Duma. There seemed to be one pilot that liked to rev things up as he came down over Dewey island...sounded like he was throwing the thrusters into reverse to break the plane as it literally screamed past us...LMAO! Now though, all the inbound flights seem to be coming in from the north at a considerably higher altitude....and much further north than the former trajectory line...often I no longer can see them, only hear them. Every once in a while you can tell the pilot who is texting his gf, though....the plane is usually really still high and waayyyyyyyyyyyyy off course.....wayyyyyyy more southerly. Sometimes me-thinks he might accidentally land over in Bayawan! LOL!!

 

Brian I was at the airport last Sunday waiting for a friend to arrive and witnessed an approach like that. It looked to me a little like a 360 overhead approach the military used to do. When I saw PAL cross the airport at relatively low altitude I remember thinking what the hell was that??? .. never seen a commercial plane do that before.
