S&R and other expat food items available

I was passing by Big Boys Liquor yesterday, and saw someone I needed to talk to, so I stopped. Big Boys was having an "open house". They have added many shelves of imported items, many from S&R in Cebu. In addition, if anyone has something they want from S&R, they will get it shipped down for you. The markup is P50 per item.

The open house is continuing today with wine and cheese tasting and bread samples.

I don't see too much in those pics that I can't find at Robinson's supermarket. I am sure it will take awhile for them to build up their stock. I am going to Cebu next week, so will make a list of items they have at S&R I like. Is that 50php charge for each item or each different item? If I wanted 10 cans of green beans, would I be charged an additional 500php or 50php flat fee? Thanks! Will add this place to my list of businesses to keep an eye on.

 

Well, right off the top of my head there are generally no Jalapenos, instant mashed potatoes, or applesauce in Robinson's, as well they have a good bulk spice collection.

I'm not affiliated and have no idea what their policy on bulk items is, bit I'm sure there would be some leeway.

I just bought 3 jars of jalapenos at Robinsons yesterday and have bought instant potatoes in the past many times there, as well, (although nothing beats my homemade mashed potatoes!). Applesauce I have only bought one time at Robinsons. But, if this place will routinely stock hard-to-get items, I am all over it!!

 

I have bought mashed potatoes at Robinson's, but not lately, "no stock" for many months now. I have never seen Jalapenos or applesauce at Robs. I think Bigboys will try to stock anything that you ask for, and keep it stocked as long as it sells.

Try asking Robinsons to stock something for you, or any other place for that matter...
