Sorry I am not in a position to give you direct advice but I know that there has been quite a bit of discussion in the past in the forum and while the threads may be a few years old, I think they would still give valuable insight if you search them out:smile:

Yea, I'm looking to buy a bike when I arrive, or soon after. Honda Shadow Slasher 400, Honda Shadow Spirit 750/1100. I've looked on AyosDito and Sullit, as well as motorcyclesphilippines and have found some. I'll look at those when I get there if they are still available, but I'd also like to get to know some of the bikers in the Phils that have bikes big enough for long rides.

I think its all depending on what your going to do with the Bike , Personnely I think a 250- 650 cc bike is good to drive around in the philippines , you need some thing that drive's easy in the city and good on a long trip . BMW GS650 is a nice bike honda CB400 (or 750) , I have a Honda Varadero XL1000 that I did bring with me , good for very long ride's but way to heavy in the city.
I recent did buy a Royal Enfield Bullet 500 EFI, (Always had classic bike's in Europe) Including a 1968 Royal enfield . can recommend it , its for me perfect to drive in the philippines . easy to maintain good tork at low rev's . and there located in Cebu ,so easy to get parts .

When do you plan on arriving? There is a large bike fest as part of the Dumaguete Fiesta going on now at the end of the boulevard. There were at least 20 bikes on display when I was there with my son late yesterday and they were still setting up. There is an additional 10 or so at Robinson's Mall, but some weeks there are over 20.

A007Spirit - Thanks. I'll stick with bikes that look like they were made in this century. I have no experience with R.E.'s, but I don't like the looks. As I said, I'm looking for a Honda Shadow Slasher 400 or a Honda Shadow Spirit 750/1100. This would be for trips or island riding. For quick trips to town, I'll get what everyone else has...probably a Honda 125 XRT or use the car/truck. Those can be picked up for very cheap and run forever.

Knowda - We will arrive next year in July

Check out the big bike shop 3 buildings from the corner of where the road going in front of Silliman Medical Center meets the highway when you get here.
