    Weekly Plan

I believe the name is World Fitness, in the Siliman Porto building, next to Siliman College. on the the third floor. It is cleanest equipment, will a low population of members. Many are Expat members, but I have found even the Filipinos are very friendly if you extend them a smile and say hello. They have day, week, and monthly memberships. I think the week membership is 700 P but I am not sure. I have been a member there for about 1 1/2 years. There are cheaper gyms in town but are not many as classy, clean with nice equipment in my opinion. Good luck, enjoy your visit.

    Gym

I think P & E Gym across the street ( National Hwy ) from the Capital Bldg. could fill the bill. You will see an internet cafe on the first floor , you will need to walk around back and up the stairs to the third floor. Ron

As Dave said, World Fitness. It's clean, well equipped, good air con, no blaring hip hop music, and patrons and staff are friendly.

    Forgot about the air conditioning

I forgot about the aircon. It has never been a problem at World Gym for me. I visited P & E when it first opened. I was told it had aircon, but there was only a floor fan that evening.

Everyone was standing in line to use the equipment at P & E that evening. I left and went back to World Fitness gym and there were only two people there so everything was accessible. It was about 7:30 in the evening. I guess it depends on whether you are interesting in a populated social situation or a work out.

If you are looking more for the social work out there is also a one hour aerobic class at 8:30 in the morning at World Fitness. On a monthly basis they charge another 500 P for that, I do not know on a weekly basis. There are many ladies in the class, if I go I am usually the only man. I stand at the back, and find the workout to be much more stimulating than running on a tread mill. There is a lot of stretching in the aerobic class. My body feels relaxed after that class.

I was told there was a special intro price at P & E at the time by the person I went there with but it was never offered me. My friend said that the "skin tax" was probably in effect. So check out the price where every you go. Ask to see if there were any specials. Most things are negotiable in the Philippines.

It was the locker room that was the deciding factor. World Gym was so much nicer finished and helps my attitude. It seems to be to American standards f development.

I only went once, shortly after P & E opened, so it may have improved since then. Check out as many gyms as you can. I was told there was a gym on the second floor on Sta. Catalina street but never found it. It is suppose to be located in the Pasta King area, one block north. I did not search too much much cause I was happy where I was.

I go to the gym for the physical work out but my mental attitude is greatly affected by the the experience of working out. I want to feel physically and mentally good about myself when I leave the gym. I feel that way when I walk out of World Fitness... all the young college girls walking about from Siliman College help my attitude too... :D

Good luck in your search... remember a work out is suppose to more than just the use of your eyes. O-|
