    1) A one world government is coming. It is just a matter of time, and it will not be a pretty or a good thing.

    2) True

    3) There is only one hope for man to change, and it has nothing to do with evolution.

Why I bring up this topics, so that I can see how many people actually still care about the human societies and the world, you guys that posted in this exchange of thoughts have surely noticed that the majority of the members of this forum stayed out of it, it's the same in other forums I read, of course I know that there is no answer, but if we stop discussing the problems, we start not to care anymore and that is the real problem...
Maybe "Fish" with his point 3 is right, we all can only hope for a solution and I for one will accept any that comes up with a better system than what we have now...

The foremost problem with planet earth is that it is overpopulated. Pretty much every renowned resource economist has agree that the maximum population this planet can sustain is 2.5 billion people. So, we are almost at 7 billion and climbing. Anybody have any reasonable idea on how to eliminate 4.5 billion people quickly? No. I didn't think so. Neither do I.

Apparently there aren't enough idiots doing their part to reduce the population. Natural disasters are counter-productive as they also destroy resources that are already in short supply.

You haven't seen anything yet (and likely won't as either of us won't live long enough to see it) as the population is due to be 11 billion by the year 2100. I don't think the sole problem is overpopulation, but a combination of greed and extremely poor management of the earth's resources. This planet can definitely be managed better.

You are absolutley right about the poor management, but most of the resource management infrastructure is from decades ago when "management of resources" wasn't even thought about. The damage is done, you can't unring a bell. The best that can be done now is to use what is left in the most efficient way possible and we aren't doing that and unless we just stop EVERYTHING and restart and rebuild, we can't.

With only a sustainable population of 2.5B and projected population of over 11B in less than 100 years, no amount of "management" is going to be able to feed everyone, provide clean water, and other resources needed for that size of a population. The only way to do that would be to turn every scrap of unused land into farms of one type or another. That is impossible because with current technology, every scrap of land is not usable for farming. We would basically need to collect every drop of rain water. How is that possible? A semi-extinction level event will need to occur to get the population down to a level that this planet can sustain. And, any event of that magnitude would most likely destroy so many resources along with the people that even those that are left would have the same problems as we have now.

Again, you're right, everyone alive today will be gone before the water wars and food wars begin. Maybe not everyone, but most.

Of course, we need more planets that we can screw up like we did this one! If they find intelligent life, they may be in for a surprise @ss-whoopin'. As far as pecking order goes, nothing to worry about there. So far, they haven't found any planet that would sustain life within any acheivable traveling distance. How big of a spacecraft would be needed to travel for 100's of years and support all the people on it and their offspring and their offspring so that somebody was alive when they finally reached that planet. Just think of all the space you would need to store the Tang!
