Equador also looks like it could be an interesting place to stay for a while, costs seem to be low and getting residence is not too difficult. Around 23 deg most of the time, eternal spring

Like the great pics you posted earlier, this is also great info. Except for all those positive things you mentioned, is there anything to point out what it less positive or negative; if any. Just curious, if out of stock /not available to use a very common saying in here, it's gonna look like "a lost paradise on earth" or close to that. Thanks in advance for your update.

Ten Twenty lenny pointed out earthquakes, but philippines has been more active than peru for quite some time, but peru will throw big ones that crumble homes...Ahhhhh, for me peru is a lot more positive than philippines or my time in central america just because im not always coughing or lethrgic/feverish and in steady state of ill.....Its not hot here at all for most of the country and even hot spots are still the low end of hot.....NOW TO THE NEGATIVE;i must say these are the uysual things i got used to in philippines which carried over to my time in central america and now peru....Philippines was the right place to start to desensitize me to the things i encountered in central america, nicaragua being low grade and panama and costarica being higher quality with higher prices...Peru is a big country with a mix of high quality and low quality....LET ME ASSURE YOU; PHILIPPINES HAS GIVEN YOU DUMAGUETE PEOPLE THE EDGE ON FINDING LIFE EASY IN THE AMERICAS.....The very odd hours of business are a hassle when i go to the city drooling for the good stuff only to find them closed at 3pm or not open until 3pm other days, and it seems lots of places choose different days to be closed rather than a standard closed on sundays or so...Closed wednesday here, closed tuesday there e.t.c..Once i learn the scrambled shcedules of my favorite spots,i can adjust my shcedule and mindframe..... Yes not available is common and waiting in line FOREVER while watching the attendant use/waste time in the most aloof/inefficient manner....Yes shot gun guards everywhere and check all bags in at the department stores...Internet is very fast and calls to the USA often very clear........Fresh Food doesnt go bad as quick in cool temperature environments...philippines is a spanish colony styled country as well as all central and south american countries and it proves to have them functioning in very similar ways with nationalized police and provincial demarkations and yes the very severely catholic ways of liberty or lack there of......trust me;philippines has done you a favour and so you are tenured in defacto if ever you come try to enjoy life in these parts....Just a different style and maybe bit more agressive and tricky street hustlers like money changers and counterfieters in south and central america.....

Thanks for the update and the realistic comments on some minor situations as the perfect place does not exist in the world, I am fully aware of that.

thats a trick question to me sir,Philippines grew on me even though it kicked my but health wise...I still imagine what i enjoyed there but that part of me that was always sick says NEVER GO BACK...better for me has been watered down over my travels to where i can feel less symptoms of ills.....You know this area is a way bigger city than dumaguete and yet so much less congestion and density of population (asia tops the list)..OH also i am in a beach resort town 5 mins out of the city and its the off season, summer starts now(december)and it picks up with tourist through to april.Cant hang with tourist too much,so unsettled in and out, town to town going to all the attractions..im long term and get around every once in a while so i can have years to see all the attractions of the country rather than gobble it all today and wonder what to do tommorrow..take care there you all...

well i hope my ethnicity dont disqualify me here but im a mixed bag...I carry my fathers name and yes Jr. is my suffix..my name is west african Nigerian as is my dad (hes dual american citizen now after over 40 years married to my american mom)...My mom is White if im allowed to say that and her dad was part english decent with bit of native amerivan mix,her mom was germanic decent but all of her parents born and raised in USA with no european travels....I was born in Newyork city, lived about 8-9 years in my dads home town in africa and lived in Kentucky ,arizona5yrs and now in hawaii12yrs,when im not extended stayed out of the country, not to mention around 3 years in washington DC with the army...........I speak spanish as well as the average philippino speaks english which is actually not bad when you consider so little english is spoken in central&south america...ive been to every central american country except el salvador...BELIZE speaks english as the main language....My time in arizona started me off in spanish but its like a different style and accent of spanish in every country, and i was in spain back in 2000 and there is different too where some spaniards wont even ackowledge spanish as their language as they are "Catalunians" (southern spain and its the better place to see anyway)................private message me your email and then i will email you mine...O-xI
