Yep, I have .. they come around here singing and banging on the gate .. persistent lil bastuds too. But I prefer them over the nutcase with the loudspeaker on their car yesterday at 4:30am preaching something about Santa Maria

Certainly works too. We haven't has nearly so many beggars since 2 years ago our "Bully" drug a caroler around our front yard by his guitar. Caroler left feeling drugged and dirty, guitar didn't fare so well.

Now they seem to hit the neighbors but mostly walk down the opposite side of the street...

I bought a box of condoms. My first idea was to print a letter in bisayan with the advice to give it to their mother.

After a second thought, I just give them to the kids and say "balloon". Not that it helps against their, but it is great fun to watch them at the neighboring houses blowing up the balloons and playing with them in front of the shocked eyes of the people living there.

we don't get many carolers up here in the coconuts cuz there's not enuf people with extra pesos living around here to make it worthwhile for the carolers to trek up the hill BUT... we have a 7 year old neighbor kid who attempts to sing the SAME SONG on a karaoke (with the reverberation set high) starting at 4:30am MOST MORNINGS and goes for at least ½ hour, sometimes an hour. the parents are proud of her and apparently she's won many singing contests. she was singing Amazing Grace for at least a year before she started her most recent number in september.

    my opinion:
if my kid did that i'd send her to her room without any breakfast! i don't know singing terminology but let's just say, she should practice singing in private, like a sound proof room, it's kinda like living next to someone learning to play a trombone. i don't understand why she doesn't use a headset.

    norm : ))~

I've given up politely asking people to turn it down, not off, particularly when the volume is mega and the bass at maximum, so I often go out for a few hours. If it's still going on when I return, usually accompanied by a constant coming and going of muffler-free bikes, I wait until it quietens down. Then in the small hours, I go on my balcony and practice playing my oboe, very very badly. This is followed by a few tracks, at maximum volume, from a CD of the massed bands of the Royal Marines. It doesn't fix the problem, but it does make for a level playing field. :D
