After looking at (mostly covering up) this chair for too long, I finally hooked up with an upholstery guy in town, who picked it up and had it back in my living room within 2 days time. He did a fine job, and even though we had limited fabric choices, it looks so much better!! I will never buy another vinyl/faux leather piece of furniture again!!

That is a huge improvement. I think I have the matching set of your old vinyl one... my look like sh*t. I need to go down to bare wood frame and replace just about everything. Can you give me the name and the location of the fellow you used. I will talk to him. It is actually the landlords so if if is expensive to recover I may just buy new and her hall her stuff out. What was the approximate price for the upholstery if you do not mind sharing it.

Vinyl/faux leather does not work for me as the cats pierce it with there nails. Anything else is just a scratching post... ugg...

Dave, I don't mind sharing his info. He is located right behind the Foam/mattress store that is across from Blas Elnar. He charged us 4000php to re-foam and recover it. We talked to another guy that was going to charge 3500php + he wanted us to purchase 15 meters of fabric (it would have cost well over 10,000 php). This guy was including the fabric, but had to charge a little more because I picked a more expensive fabric at OK Mart, rather than what he had in the shop (which is actually part of the mattress/foam shop in front). His name is Jun.

    Choices

    Thanks for the information.

I can buy a rattan couch, two chairs and two tables for 18,500 P at Anne Rattan near the airport. That includes upholstered foam cushions. i have a curved wall so I could have Anne's make a custom curved couch, but that would be extra, and not sure I need it. So the prices seem to be comparable for either approach, new, or upholstered. I like the more casual look of rattan, but not comfort level. My cats are going to screw up either set of furniture,O-|, but they are my kids so I will live with the issue.

The couch and chairs actually belong to my Landlady, so I will ask her if I can take them with me if I am going to invest that much money in repair, otherwise I will buy and take with me.

    Any other information I need?

Exactly was what I was considering. I like the rattan look, but, even with foam it is not comfortable. This is a chair that gets used a lot, so I decided to go for comfort. I took a picture and the dimensions of my loveseat with me so they could see exactly what I had.

Three inch firm foam on the bottom cured the uncomfortable rattan syndrome. We used the sewing shop the next block down from Rickys near old McD. Across from the market, very near People's Choice pharmacy
