Got to Dumaguete last night. Gotta rent a moto today for my two week stay. Looking to spend 500p a day for automatic. Any suggestions?

There are a few places but the easiest to find is on Perdices (the street that runs through downtown). Go south past McD, past the big church and Shell station .. aabout another block on the left right on the corner .. don't pay 500 per day. I paid 1700p for a week and that was probaably too much .. I'd shoot for 3000p for 2 weeks, maybe even less. Check the brakes and tires!

I'll second that you thoroughly check the breaks and tires among checking lights and so forth. Its vital as many of the motors for rent are not well maintained.

Perdices is the street you want. Also don't fall for the guy's making you think your getting a deal. Many love to say its 700p a day but they will give you a break at 400p a day as if that's a good price. If you have a gal your with can hide your face for a moment while she walks around and asks how much a week rental price and then go back 5 minutes later demanding the same price they quoted her.

Dumaguete is one of the very best places to hire motorbikes, anywhere in the Philippines. 500 pesos is way too much to pay. Last time I was in Dumaguete I hired a 125 from KoKoi's bikes, the bike was not new but adequate and was only 250 a day, which is as low as you will find as a foreigner anywhere in the country these days. I would not want an automatic bike in Dumaguete if I was planning on going up to the Twin Lakes or Lake Banilan. It is better to have manual transmission on bad roads and on inclines.

It has been over a year since I rented a m/c but I use to get the 125 Hondas for less than 200 P a day, sometimes a low as 166 P a day. Although I was almost a constant renter for a month, I usually rented by the week. The location was across from the Yamaha dealer and about 1/2 block north on the opposite side of the street in the general area you are talking about. No store front just a table on the side walk infront of the clinic for expecting mothers. They always treated me well, and I certainly would go back again. The prices I quoted are about two years old and required some good humor and negotiations to arrive at those prices.
