I have some concerns about regular postal delivery, one of which is that I may move around a few times in Dumaguete before settling in to the right place. I'm seeking a reliable person/professional as a maildrop receiver. Has anyone else sought out such a maildrop? I would like to use the address for however long I stay in Dumaguete, I would stop by there every week or so to see if any mail arrived for me. I have heard some horror stories about the main post office, such as stuff sitting there for a few months, etc.
No such thing as reliable mail delivery here. Best bet is to get P.O box. More than once, I have received mail 6 weeks after being sent from within Dumaguete, but this is using my residential address. The p.o. box is a little better because it doesn't require someone to go out to the streets trying to locate people. This is funny, but true...we mailed a document to ourselves, took 2 weeks for it to make it to our p.o. box!
I send 2 different regular mails last month thru Dumaguete City Post Office, paid almost 1,200pesos content was a native cloth hand woven bag from Myammar. They said it will take 3weeks to 1 month or more to reach Paris. So,i had it go, and i asked for an official receipt, and i was being told that they don't have receipt or any kind of acknowledgment form to fill up. At the end, we settled for a small paper with her rubber stamped and i asked her to put the amount i paid with her signature. Just to be positive,I hope the mails will reach within this year.
