While home recovering from my stroke, I watch a lot of TV. One of America Idol’s primary sponsors is KFC. Now I enjoy KFC chicken and admit it is so good, as they advertise, their latest advertisement is for a sandwich labeled, ‘double down’. They show a sandwich with fried chicken breast on the bottom, cheese slice on the top, a couple pieces of bacon on top, a generous dump of mayonnaise topped by another fried chicken breast. Wow, looks and sounds delicious and I wish I could eat one - but I now know better and will not eat one or suggest to my wife and boy to eat one.
    You? Enjoy.

Sounds good, but how about a blue cheese burger with onion rings? One of my favorite fast food meals from Flaming Grill.

like them too, but they are tiny and the bun is not that great. still go there once a week for a snack.
one needs 3 of them for a normal sized meal, which than goes into a price direction where you can have a full meal in one of the better restaurants in Dumaguete.

I think in just about every country in Asia, KFC opened up before Mcdonald's did, I think in quite a lot in Europe too - though not everywhere. Chicken and rice is an easy sell to Asians, its what half of them live on anyway. They're just not that interested in the sandwiches, or fries westerners like us associate with these kind of restaurants. Which is why KFC menus here, like Mcdonald's ones, are unlike the ones in the west. Although I have never seen a KFC restaurant anywhere selling spaghetti or tagliatelle like I have seen in Mcdonalds in the Phlippines, and Italy.

    Malaysia KFC 1973, Mcdonalds 1980
    Thailand 1984, 1985
    Philippines 1967, 1982
    Indonesia 1979, 1991
    Vietnam 2008, 2014
Cambodia 2008, no Mcdonald's yet although it has been rumoured for years that they are about to open one, unlike Vietnam there has been no official announcement.

one of life's mysteries is that whenever Mcdonald's opens a restaurant anywhere for the first time it becomes a pretty big international news story but when KFC does, it doesn't even though KFC is just as much a 'US imperialist' brand as Mcdonald's is and is arguably more successful, as they beat them to it nearly every time. .

I don't go in them hardly at all, but I thought they didn't have spaghetti in KFC's here. Only in Jollibees and Mcdonald's, although Mcdonald's resisted putting it on the menus for a long time, until they finally gave in.

yes they do have spaghetti. I was in the SM Sucat earlier and saw a picture of a plate of spaghetti in one of their advertisements. I'm pretty sure that at one time, like Mcdonalds, KFC did not have spaghetti on the menus.

Yes KFC is okay but I find it greasy and a bit hard to take…..When I worked in the Middle East for many years…I found Broast Chicken extremely good - they are everywhere in Saudi Arabia. It is a US company that provides the high-pressure oil cookers (don't worry - almost none of the oil in the chicken pieces) and the spices and coatings to make a superb product. I know they have a couple (maybe more in Manila) so maybe some enterprising expat could look into it for Dumaguete. It is the best chicken I've eaten (it would also depend on getting some decent size chickens in Dumaguete…ideally around the 1.5 kilo range dressed….)….Welcome to the Home Page of www.broaster.com
Don't dash out and become millionaires all at once….d*mn good products….relatively low capital costs compared to McDonalds and Jollibee…..get the equipment and buy their coatings….and you are on your way…If you don't believe me - ask any Filipino about Broast Chicken who has worked in the Middle East….
