Just got into Dumaguete yesterday and had a quick look at Robinsons Ace Hardware and CDR King. Was looking at SLA batteries which of course I did not expect at CDR king, but they do offer solar panels after looking at one at a SM store in Manila. It was a 50watt model for 4500pesos. Ace Hardware have one for 5000pesos and a solar generator for 30,000 pesos if you needed. I forgot to bring a small 10watt panel from Australia which I want to setup a small LED light for a gazebo and offer lighting as a alternate study or monitoring light for a room for students studying to save on their electricity bill. Could not find any SLA battery, but have yt to explore uymatio and citi hardware. Does anyone know where I can find small 9ah to 20ah batteries saving me running around like a headless "chook"? Otherwise I might use a motorcycle battery.... Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Across from Robinson's on the national hiway next to the hardware store there is a store that specializes in batteries (can't remember the name, not to be confused with the battery store on the corner that has been there forever). They have quite a good stock, and also have solar panels. The name of the store might come to me later.
If you are looking for car size batteries, GoodYear down the road from Robinsons had a slightly cheaper price last year when I bought mine.
The place "Shadow" mentions, has now a big "Panasonic" sign hanging outside, I bought several batteries from them, they have solar batteries but I think the smallest one is 100Ah...
Are the Solar Systems there the same Chinese Sh!t like sold here where the inverters are constantly crapping out and needing to be replaced? When I go back I am looking at saving my pesos to replace the Nipa roof with Hardwood trusses and Iron roofing and was thinking along the lines of Solar for all the lighting. For actual lighting is Solar an expensive option there, and does it help reduce the power consumption by much come Bill time to make it worthwhile installing it? Cheers, Brian.
