Just thought I would share an eye opener we had while dealing with vehicle sellers in Cebu
We were looking to purchase a Mitsubishi Pajero in Cebu , on Ayosdito (website).
There were lots of vehicles advertised , 2003 model , 2004 model etc etc , I kept thinking
wow these cars look a lot earlier than the model year they were advertised at , and after
questioning one of the advertiser's he admitted that the car was actually 1993 model , BUT ,
it was only imported to the Philippines in 2004 , therefore was advertised as a 2004 Pajero .
See life only begins when you arrive in the Phils , can't wait to move there , I will be back in nappy's .

Well one would think , JP , that a mere tune up and oil change would then constitute a complete reset of the odometer , good as new so to speak , the consumer watchdog here would tear them a new you know what , but only in the phils , we ended up buying a 2001 Pajero off a policeman in Cebu for p375,000 ,, maybe another dumb move , will know on Tuesday when the paperwork comes into view

what you are buying is what they called Japanese Surplus. used in Japan brought here in the Philippines converted from Right hand drive to Left Hand Drive. you should have bought the Philippine model Pajero. but they are a little expensive than the Japanese surplus imported from Japan.

Thanks for the suggestion Masculado , but to be honest I have never had too many complaints about Japanese made products , pretty well top notch quality , to the point that I have 4 Mitsubishi vehicles here in aus. , all 3.5 litre v6 engines ,

I suppose the real point in all of this was just to highlight the fact that no-one likes misrepresentation on items for sale , if it is a 1993 model , that is what should be stated in the sale item description , but I suppose used car salesman are much the same the world over , you have to count how many fingers you have left after shaking hands with them , and if they are prepared to lie about the true age of the vehicle , you can be assured that a lot more will also be wrong

I think Masculado means they are chop-chop the conversion can be very very poor, a local car is straight from the manufacturer

A thriving auto business in Cebu. I went there to consider a private sale but also looked into 5 other Kia that were listed online in the Cebu area. They were all listed by *chop shops* for a better term as all were for sale on lots that had no less than 20 other Kia in various states of disassembly. They will build to suit as it were if you were willing to put 50 percent of the cost up front. I decided to pass on that deal myself but it was interesting at least. Thought Id share.
