For those with crappy connections, here is the article. Did they start building the new hospital yet? Or is it still a dream? Dumaguete, Philippines Monthly budget: $1,000 In addition to its welcoming, friendly, English-speaking people, Dumaguete boasts a warm, tropical climate and lots of opportunity for outdoor adventures, including world-class diving and snorkeling and whale and dolphin watching. Dumaguete sits right along the ocean, with attractive beaches to the north and south of town. This is also a university city, meaning an abundance of inexpensive restaurants that cater to “starving” college students. Foreigners have the opportunity to make friends with educated professors and aspiring students, take classes and enjoy cultural opportunities not typically found elsewhere in the Philippines, including theater, ballet, art shows and libraries. Medical and dental care is good, with a new hospital under construction and international-standard health care available in nearby Cebu.
I also saw this on yahoo news last week and all the local news sites are really plugging it! It does make me wonder who writes these things and if they have actually lived here for any length of time.
Probably referring to that South Sea Medical Center that never got off the ground: Resort-Hospital to Rise in Dumaguete | BNC Buglas News Central Negros Oriental News Central
"Cultural opportunities not typically found elsewhere in the Philippines"??? Theatre and ballet? Crap, I stay!
The reality of this company (International Living) is that they promote countries with uneducated truths from "journalist" that have never had "boots on the ground" and that these words are accepted by the unknowing public. Until people stop believing them they will continue. The biggest problem is I know that close friends learned this by going to seminars they held promoting Panama & got burned bad ! All I know is that I could live quite nicely on 42,000p+/1k usd.And I believe most here could do the same.Peace
