We called in here late yesterday pm to enquire regarding wine corkage fee. As usual we stay reasonably close at Guiseppe when visiting Dumaguete.

After some discussion we were informed by the girls so long as we ate there is no fee. Of course we intended to eat there. Arriving later my GF inquired again as it's somewhat unusual no corkage, again told no it's no fee if you eat. OK all good.

Around 15 later we over hear intense discussion behind the bar, including whom we presumed to be owner. Sure enough girl returns, sorry sir there is a fee. Finding this unacceptable I asked for the owner whom came. After introductions I explained the situation, he agreed with me and no corkage this time. As I said it's not the fee it's the circumstances.

The ambience is very nice and our first serving which was intended as an appetizer was huge. Excellent fries from real potatoes. Ralph the owner, a portly German was very pleasant and recommend a lovely fish dish.

In all a nice dining experience at reasonable prices and I would recommend the resto.

Visited La Fiesta Restobar with the family on Thursday. It's a great place to unwind as the bar is very open and breezy. Ralf is always happy to listen to suggestions and feedback too, which of course is in his best interests. The beer's are cold and the menu varied. There is room for improvement (particularly with staff training) but I am not going to be negative or derogatory here, as I feel the place is very much a 'work in progress'.
Worthy of note are the 'proper' Chips/Fries - which are of the hand-cut potato type like they should be - No skinny McD straws here! Bread is also excellent - I reckon 'Chip Butties' should therefore be a permanent menu fixture!

TIP: Ralf is keen to fill the place for the Pacman/Mayweather fight - so on 3 May he is putting on Breakfast along with the fight live for 150PHP. Not bad at all - and probably a good place to see it as (1) I hate watching TV on a projector screen because the picture quality is usually poor and (2) La Fiesta has plenty of space for such a gathering. The TV is not particularly huge, but I reckon it will be fine as it's linked to the stereo, which is powerful.

    Friendly, welcoming place. Recommended.

La Fiesta is south of Bacong Metro hub by about 3 Km (?) , it is opposite the only Shell Gas Station south of Bacong, If you are going south it is on the right hand side of the road and the Shell Gas Station is on the left, with big signs saying 500 P a night cottages or something like that... Just look for the big Shell Gas Station sign then turn right into the driveway.

Great. Thank you Dave. I know exactly where it is now. I dropped an expat off there when we visited DC 2 months ago. We stayed at Dumaguete Spring Resort right opposite! Nice open bar. Will ensure I drop by soon. Many thanks for the prompt reply.

Would someone be so kind as to provide me with a landmark from the main road? Where abouts is the bar in San Miguel exactly? Thank you.

I took 3 Filipino friends over the Weekend, It has Changed their outlook on a Foreigner run bar. They were made to Feel Welcome and all 3 said they would revisit with GF and/or Wives. Beer was great and although we did not eat on this visit, I have never been let down yet, maybe I do moan a little about wait times but all good things are worth waiting for!

The food is very good here, maybe one of the best all around menus for the area South of Bacong/Dumaguete. The Hamburger are excellent with many choices. Their European dishes are very good also, although I certainly have not tried many them.
The open air atmosphere is very nice. It is usually a quite place with about as many people as in the picture. So if you are looking for a non-crowded place to eat is works well. There Expats there from all parts of the world.

We visited again last night, happily paid the P200 corkage and had a lovely meal. Pleasure to for once eat real fries and real mashed potatoes.

      Highly recommended.
