ok seen lots of post on this and did lots of reading b4 i joined this forum.only joined 2nite actually but been reading for a few days now as i had an upcoming visa renewal my last b4 my 16 months as a tourist are up.as a coincedence my acr card was expiring the a day b4 my last 2 month visa renewal.i always renew a few days ahead of time just to make sure everythings kosher.so if i have a problem.i have a few days 2 fix it.never had yet but better safe than sorry.so went to immigration today and instead of asking makulit questions here.about the same topic same thread thats already been answered.i decided to ask the main office in manila in person.the information officer and im paraphrasing.or translating coz it was in tagalog "if u are a tourist you do not need to renew your acr.if asked turn it in at the airport do so if not trash it coz when u leave as a tourist the 16 month process starts all over again if u are a permanent resident and leave with an expired card or a card in the process of renewal u start all over again as well.u have to reapply for everything again and lose ur status.this was told to me yesterday 11/06/2012 by an immigration information officer the main branch intromuros manila.if u have been the country more than 1 yr.u have to get exit cleareance.can be at the airport but the manila office said they can do it there but the departure has to be within one month of the exit clearance.so i guess depends on who u are sum i have heard have been told get it done at the airport.me i was told come back 1 month b4 my departure.sum will now what im talking bout when i say "depends on how much mileage u have"others will not.seems i got alot. maybe coz im always friendly and smile and bullshit with the officers everytime i go to immigration.i know the fire drill everything is always in order.its from one window 2 the next 2 the next.seems u make their life easier they make urs easier.the truth is u can get it done at bi and i prefer to do that a few weeks b4 a flight.if u really want it bi manila dont know bout elsewhere u can get with a little hell raising but the might give u hell back next time the see u.if ur coming back and use manila bi.by making u wait 4 hours for a 1-2 hour extension even though ur visa is already stamped.if ur never coming back raise hell.and also because i was a familiar friendly face at manila bi main office i was kinda hinted at by a bi employee that for a little sumthing extra i could extend beyond the allowed 16 months.sumthing to the affect."you sure you want only to months i think we can extend you beyond that next time"i chose the safe route and play by the rules and me and the girlfriend just go to hong kong for a 2-3 day vacation.and last if u been here more than a year u have to pay the travel tax.not sure what it is and the terminal fee.u have to pay the terminal fee no matter what.i think the total of the 2 is like 2,200-2,300 pesos.i think if less than a year only terminal fee last time i paid was like 750pesos.so have pesos of about 800-3000 in ur pocket depending on how long u been the country.sorry this was long winded but asked the relevant questions in person yesterday in person at the intramuros manila main office.and hopes this answers many questions and ends many repeat makulit questions i seen here.and one last thing.i hear airlines are asking 4 return ticket b4 boarding.i have never had an airline ask me or an immigration officer for a onward ticket.but been hearing in the past 6-8 months or so imigration has been pressuring airlines.i havent left in 14 months my last flight in from the west coast 2 taiwan then to manila no one asked anything.but things may have changed since then.so best by a throw away.for 30-50 usd.tiger airphils or cebu pacific can provide u with a cheap one way throw away to hkg or singapore.for around 30-50 usd depending on the season.i have my flight booked 4 my visa run already the throw away cost 799pesos.do the math its worth it rathe than be turned away and missing ur flight to philippinnes.sorry this was so long winded but chocked full of info straight from the horses mouth main office manila.hope this eliminates lots of makulit and repetitive questions already been answered but still asked if a mod or admin wants to post this as a sticky go ahead if a mod or admin wants to edit or paraphrase it to shorten it go ahead as long as it helps people.anyway im out.thnx.hope it helped
You say that if you have been in the country for more than a year you need an exit clearance certificate ??? Get real. The ECC is needed after 6 months in the country. Expert or knowledgeable you are not. Good bye.
yes punky your longwinded and rude message to me was deleted, you are a true expert, you don't even know me good enough to call me an A/hole, if you read the contend properly then you would have seen that I was stuffed around by the forklift business for months, it was through that frustration of dealing with these idiots that led me to start up the thread and ask for outside help.
Wow.... it happened to Me too One of Punky's responses to my response on another thread was deleted also. He did not even call me an A/hole. He is probably looking forward to moving here and meeting all the people he tried to insult here with his knowledge. O-| Everyones is welcomed here, but courtesy and respect is appreciated. An old American saying is: You can attract more people to you with honey than you can with vineger. I think it may apply to this situation.
