Those Algerians do not take prisoners - it appears they moved straight in and attacked the terrorists who had taken the hostages, and did not appear, on all accounts so far, to give a d*mn about the welfare of the hostages :(

It has been reported that as well as all the other various Country Nationals, 6 Filipinos were among the hostages.

A security expert who has worked with the Algerians said that their goal is always to kill the terrorists and not free the hostages, where in the Western world, it is the reverse.

Nothing seems to be very clear coming from the Algerians.

Would maybe have been better if the USA Seal team #6 that got Bin Laden, had been called in to handle the situation, or the British or Australian SAS guys.?

But Algeria did not call in for any assistance, and handled the situation their way.O-|O-|O-|O-|O-|O-|O-|

Personally I agree with the Algerians as far as not meeting any demands. Go in, try and free hostages but kill every single terrorist and any working for them. You need a strong single that such action will NOT be tolerated and there will NOT be a way out of it. If the terrorists go back to their village using their families as shields, kill them all. Make the punishment for terrorism against your people so horrific that no one will ever consider it.

All the Jihadists for example, think they would be so willing to give away their childrens and spouses lives as well? I don't think so.

Well, actually, the stories coming over via the Media are really not that clear, or it seems accurate, because it was initially thought that the 5 vehicles leaving the area supposedly carrying the terrorists and the hostages, was stopped by a gun ship helicopter. Well, how can a gunship helicopter taking out 5 vehicles, hope to differentiate between terrorists and hostages. ? If in fact that is true, it sounds like an over kill to me ?

I saw an interview on CNN and BBC involving a Security guy who worked with Algeria in the past, and he said that the Algerians were a little different, in that their only goal was to kill terrorists and not free the hostages. While in the West, they seem to try to do both if they can. ?

Maybe the Algerians simply say, well, we will kill the terrorists, and if hostages get in the way, ............tough ?

    Who knows ?

The Russians treat hostage situations the same way. The Israelis bulldoze the houses of suicide bombers parents to offset the money that Saudis pay to the suicide bombers family as a death benefit. Different countries have their own way of handling terrorists.

Yes, the whisper is that the Saudis are the ones who are predominantly funding the Islamic terrorists, but it seems no Country is going to raise the whisper to Public notice, whether behind the scenes Diplomatic noise is being made, who knows ????????????????

Fair point, and if that is the case, surely the various Countries that are victims of that cash flow to terrorists, would have done something about it by now via their special forces, secret service, etc., etc., or whatever ?
