Anyone else having issues when it comes to home deliveries?

I live in a house that doesn’t have a house number nor a proper street name. My address is just the name of my barangay. I think I share the same address with all the houses in my area. I didn’t think to check those things before I actually bought the house but apparently it’s “normal” here not to have house numbers or even street names. I had to draw a map to have my furniture delivered, but what about food deliveries that you need to phone in? Or packages from outside the Philippines?

So give yourself a house number? Paint the number really big on your wall/gate. Since no one has a house number it seems you get first pick.

Have experience with ordering online with Lazada. Your mobile number is critical in giving directions. Most of these delivery guys are local and they know the area even without house numbers. I see pizza delivery in my apartment complex. Not sure about having a proper street name.

We are in the same boat, not a true address that makes any sense. Give a cell # and things will get there one way or another.

i wrote a landmark guide, with my name, from a well known business, church, intersection, etc. and text it to the delivery team when they call or text me.
it helps to use odometer readings in 10ths (2/10km) from your landmarks.
also, if you can, use something like turn towards the mountain or sea rather turn left or right because you don't know what direction the courier is coming from.

lately, i've included a link to my location on google maps in a follow up text..

how to find your location link on google maps ?
    - zoom in on your house, put your curser on it and right click
    - click on ''what's here'' in the popup menu
    - left click on the gps coordinates in the window that pops up in the bottom of your screen
    - click on ''send to my phone'' or ''share'' in the left hand menu

i use MyPhoneExplorer in my computer to send the directions via my cell phone.
you can store your directions in the MPE notes and copy/paste them in the msg window.

    fun stuff...

I give simple instructions that work half the time. Half a kilometer from the highway, green gate, green roof. Any more is too much info to handle on a good day. As suggested, cell phone necessary.

In my area, I'm one of the landmarks. Just ask for directions to the foreigner in the area. Then you get kind of close and yell "Ayou!"

I live in “inner Daro” where it’s hard to get a proper landmark after you hit Ace Medical Hospital. After that, it’s mostly trees and more turns then mostly trees again. While the riders are able to call me, it’s been really frustrating to direct them that I felt I had to ask how people with no proper address are doing it. I have contemplated putting up markers on the streets and making up my own street names, but a guy told me I have to have a permit if I want to put up a sign or take it up with the barangay council which could take awhile.

But the suggestion for the myphoneexplorer really helps, and will surely be doing that moving forward. Thanks for all the help!

That is a great idea. I'm going to try that for the alley I live in. Pay enough people off and I bet it sticks. Over time people will forget how the "street" took that name and it will become official.
