My father-in-law captured a bayawak, a monitor lizard, in our garden. Apparently, he saw him (or her) when he was small but the thing grew well over a meter long and was eating baby chicks and fruit and whatever. Scary looking creature. I heard they taste like chicken but he threw that one over the wall (I think).

I'm sure they taste somewhat similar to snakes or possibly alligator. (which is pretty dang awesome IMO)

I know Carpet Snake (Python) tastes like Chicken, GREASY KFC Chicken! :D I had some as a kid, and Chicken is my all time FAVOURITE Meat! I remember the meat being very oily, and somewhat rubbery, but sure tasted like Chicken to me! I have smelt Lizard/ Goanna cooking and have to admit the smell if very nice, but I did not partake in that one as I was older and somewhat maarte
