The main way to get to Apo is from the port in Malatapay about 27 km south of Dumaguete City. A boat able to carry up to 4 passengers cost 2.000 peso for a return trip and a boat carrying up to 8 passengers cost 3.000 peso. Bookings can be made by calling 09179315383. There is also the possibility to try and fetch a ride with someone going there anyway (like one of the dive operators), but this is the “official” service, which is available for sure and upon request.

About season there is no “bad” time to go to Apo, but diving conditions are affected by the 3 main weather patterns in this part of the Philippines:

    • June-november: SW monsoon
    • December-february: NE monsoon
    • March-may: Dry season
