It is a sad thing to have to say here, but a very good friend of Mine, had his motorcycle Stolen from outside Casa Blanca on Thursday evening while he was inside eating. It would Appear that 3 other thefts were Reported to the Police who said that it would appear a well rehearsed Gang of M/C thieves are active in and around Dumaguete. Heads up on this and lets all make and take those precautions a little more seriously. JP
Apparently they are not contracted to look after the Parking, My friend will pursue this of course As the Mayor seems to get plenty of Help on this issue. and people are told about parking what and where. Any comments on this? JP
A good invention if not available already is an alarm or add a kill switch to the motorcycle. And of course security saw and did nothing.
Maybe not. Casablanca guards have always been sticklers for making you park around the side of the building where you can't have eyes on your bike. Of course they always wait until you are sitting down and looking at the menu before they ask you to move it.
I would venture to say that Gunther would not be pleased if the expat population boycotted his establisment due to a lack of security. Why not have two of the auto parking spots in front reserved for motocycles and let the cars park at the side??? There are simple solutions, but it will take economoic pressure to impliment them---as always! Enlightened self-interest!
I always park my Motorcycle in front, either to the far left or right of the blvd. When the guard tell me to move it I politely remind him that Casablanca does not own the road, nor have the right to tell anyone where to park outside their property. They back down immediately...
If it's scooters/underbones that are being stolen thieves may just be picking them up and carrying them away. On bikes with a front disc brake you can usually put a padlock in the holes or webbing of the brake rotor to at least prevent it from being rolled away
How about a fake leather seat cover with rusty nails implanted on the underside to give the thief a nice suprise when he sits down? Just a thought...
Not new...same thing happened outside Hayahay and they have a guard ....the city even purposed that businesses be required to have "bike racks".....the answer to the problem is two fold.... ONE more aggressive policing of stolen bikes and their recovery AND....TWO a simple hardened steel bike locking device which runs through the wheel and prevents the bike from rolling .... of course the thieves will be reduced to stealing parts or use a tow truck.....
