could anyone recommend any clean budget inn or hotel in Manila preferably in Makati. last time around we stayed in franchise one hotel which was really good and we were satisfied. we payed about 2000 pesos per night and it had all the useful amenities one could ask. this time I would appreciate any recommendations so we can try another place otherwise we should choose the same place. thanks sooooo much.

2000p is a very good price, for a nicer, clean, and safe hotel in the Metro Manila area if "it had all the useful amenities one could ask."

    When were you there last?

It all depends what the purpose is of being in Manila.
If it is as a stopover for an early or late connecting flight, a hotel near the airport is advisable.
In this case Shogun Suite hotel in Pasay is a good option.
For 1.500 pesos/room you stay in a nice hotel with restaurant and swimming pool on the rooftop.
Included is a small clean room with good cable TV,aircon and en suite bathroom.
Also included free transport from airport to the hotel (hotel/airport cost 250 pesos/private car but you can take taxi as well)
The included breakfast buffet is very clean but basic with rice, fish, bread, butter, eggs sausage and instant coffee and milk.
The hotel is OK but the surrounding is not advisable for an early morning stroll, not fitted for vacation or long stay.

Choosing an affordable place to stay and my safety on the area, I recommend: Durban Inn located at the tip of Makati Ave corner Durban st. Its clean and the staff are very friendly price range from 800- 1,800PHP depending on the room and peak season. Back of it, is Burgos st, where you can find the red district of Makati lots of girls and Bars. A young hookers wearing a school uniform on the st. I was shock Lol! There's also one that is walking distance to Glorieta Mall its crown regency 1,500PHP last time I was there 2010 for crown regency and 2011 for Durban.

1500PHP is very very good for the Crown Regency. I've stayed there about a dozen times last few years and I don't think we ever got a standard room (still very comfortable - if a bit small) for less than 3000PHP. Usually we book thru Agoda or Expedia. Walk-in rates are generally higher, if any rooms are available at all - since it's often full. It's a popular place due to being across the street from Glorieta and gets a lot of Filipino business clients as well. Even at the usual 3000-3500 pesos, it's very good value - free breakfasts, generally decent internet speed on the UTP points - wireless is limited to the reception/dining area. About two hundred places to eat within 5 minutes walk. They are very good for keeping some of our extra baggage (the wife's shopping raids mostly) while we island hop for a couple weeks and return to Crown again....no charge....no tampering...all good.

Crown Regency is not possible for 1,500 pesos now.
    At least 2,500.

Just for fun I did a quick room search for a couple nights in May at the Crown....Expedia was the cheapest at 3400PHP for a standard room with breakfasts (3200 without)...and the same room ranged up to 5200 pesos with other on-line booking companies...

Try the Citadel Inn, Makati, very cheap, and basic, but ok.

Log in to Asiatravel.com and then click Makati. Plenty of hotels listed there under 2000 per night with a full description of the hotel and facilities. I usually stay at the St. Giles Hotel in Makati if I'm not footing the bill, the Copacabana Suites in Pasay if I am.
