I find a remote piece of mountain land that is 3 hecters, it is not and has not been farmed and is not and has not been lived on, the land has no electric, no water, and dirt road access. I want to purchase this land, but it is tax declared. No remote land like this is titled. What do I do? I will get all the taxes up to date and in my wife's name. I would want to build a small off-grid home and make some improvements to the property, like a small pond, vegitable garden, and some fruit and nut trees.

If I try to get the land titled it may draw people out of the woodwork with claims because of the value increase due to the title. Plus is it really worth getting such remote land titled?

So if I just keep the land as tax declared and put some low key modest improvements what are the chances of loosing the land? What is the best way to protect yourselve in this scenario?

I read most of your posts, it seems you have not been here for a longer time (if at all). Honest advice, Hands Off.

The chances are not only huge that you are loosing the land but also a lot of investment.
