When I moved to Valencia five years ago Skycable was super saturated and not accepting any new customers so Fil Products was the only option. Until the last year it's been fine. Now most days the picture goes to hell about 4pm until about 9pm probably due to too many paying customers on our branch line as well as too many cable thieves. Weekends are often even worse. According to one of their tech's they've also abandoned further build out of their "wonderful new digital system", at least for the time being, because not enough people will pay the increased fees. This leaves them supporting a part digital part analog customer base with resulting reduction in service quality.

    So I'm researching alternatives.

Can anyone out there comment on the current state of SkyCable or any other satellite TV options that may be available in the Dumaguete area.

I can look up channel list and schedule myself. I'm mostly interested in picture quality, interruptions in service and hidden costs.

    I actually live in Valencia.

    Thanx

John, I use both Cignal and Dream satellite in Bacong. Dream is more limited and my wife uses it but I love Cignal. High Definition plus you get the basketball channel. Discovery Turbo, CNN, Fox News, and many others. There are about 107 channels including 10 high def, but the 107 includes local plus chinese, korean, and jap channels. I pay 1,290p a month. I've had them for 1 1/2 yrs and only lose the signal when a very heavy downpour occurs. I can't remember what I paid for my dish but the installation was 4,000 including a foreigner's tax. My house had the raceways already for cable tv so the hookup was simple. Now I see Cignal and Dream are out of the same office next to POS. Let me know if you have further questions.

    Dream Sat

    I use dream satalite TV.
There top package is P650 Per month, Where as Cyignal is somewere near P1300 Per month.
I think for the money the Dream package is the better value @ half the price.
could do with a few more channels but it is good enougth for me.

    Hi Roadking,
Dream sat sounds like it would suit us - about 3km SW of Valencia, so no cable.
How is the signal quality and reliability?
    Thanks.

Well you have to find an installer that actually knows what they are doing!.
Mine turned up with no tools, Incredible so be prepared.
The strength & signal quaity are fine & usually only a realy good storm will block the signal.
Cost about P 4000 for the dish & Digi box.
    Good luck !!!......
    PS
Might be a ideal to get some exta co/ax cable cos I think they only supply about 30 feet of it, ask them when buying the system..., O-
