My niece in Cebu says her tech job at a call center there is about over due to something Obama has enacted. Evidently he's changing the tax breaks companies get when outsourcing jobs?

For now maybe only her particular company is affected, I'd guess there are others impacted as well as US companies evaluate outsourcing savings vs loss of tax breaks?

I haven't heard any rumors in Dgte about call centers losing clients etc

Philippine call centers? We finally could get someone we could understand on the phone when we got routed thru to call centers in the Phils.. Looks like we'll be stuck with the ones in Jinglytown now, cause I doubt they'll shut the ones down in India....cheers

well, i am since over 20 years in many countries with English as 1st language but can't remember any country, where people speak that almost not understandable pseudo-US-dialect the employees of call center here in the Philippines try to sell as proper English (at least that is my experience with call-center of many local companies)

whats the point of getting forwarded just to get the answer
"Thank you for your information Sir, for a while Sir, No Sir we can not help you Sir, not my department Sir, no I can not connect you Sir, please call the hotline-number again and choose "3" or please try to write a letter to the company directly Sir, Can I help you with anything else Sir?"
"Well darling you have a sweet voice, as you can't help me with anything business related, I can come up with some ideas you could help me, but I guess it is not in your job-description...."

Speaking for me, I choose my hosts since years from western countries with in-house hotlines and made way better service-experience compared to the outsourcing companies.

I understand money is a big aspect, but I am happy to pay a few dollar more to deal with people who know what they do in a language I understand.
