Head into the market, there must be 10 shops in there at least who carry cooking utensils, lots of steel woks there but if you see any cast iron frying pans please post the store name and location,, i think there are 50 people on here looking for a decent frying pan.
thanks andiflip, i'll check that out next time in town. i'm pretty sure i saw cast iron frying pans in lee plaza just before the hollydaze. i recently ordered a couple of cast iron pans on amazon and had them shipped free to forex.com who put them in a bb box with other items i ordered, maybe some of you guys could get together and place group buy and be frying up a storm in a couple of months. norm : ))~
Just a note on the C.I. cookware. I shipped 5 balikbayan boxes when I moved here permanently 2 years ago. In those boxes were many items including C.I. frying pans of various sizes and a C.I. dutch oven. Magically they all evaporated along with 40% of everything else of any value basically. All were items that I see now someone here would want. Who do you suppose could have very selectively taken those things ? Only 3 boxes of the 5 had been tampered with and those were the 3 that had the just what "they" wanted. How do you suppose they knew just which boxes to raid ? I guess someone has x-ray eyes. Do you think ? Any similar experiences out there ?
Sorry to hear of your loss. I shipped Balikbayan using UMAC, from Florida to Manila, 1 large box and one small never did arrive. I am still waiting for the claim to settle. I thought I did a smart thing in declaring $100 value in the event of Customs opening....I guess not so smart after all......the other boxes arrived unmolested.
I had a friend here with big feet, he had his daughter from the states ship him some shoes over here,, When they got here he was surprised to open the box and they were made in Marikina.. Any time after that he had his daughter ship them one at a time and never had a problem..
My shipment was handled by Orient Star, customs, and the delivery truck, and received by the family here, we tried to contact customs and Orient Star, never did get a reply from any of them. hmmmm ! Let's see, took sandles, slippers, tennis shoes, walking shoes, docksiders, dress shoes, table wear, basic hand tools, kitchen tools, C.I. cook ware, rain coats, used lap top computer, and a whole long list of hard to get items. I wonder why I don't like customs, or Orient Star ??? or the trucker ? hmmmm.............. I'll have to give that some deep thought. But I highly suspect someone with x-ray as they targeted the boxes with what they would be looking for. Live and learn. If I ever do it again I will make a complete list and heavily insure it. But I am not feeding the vultures and bloodsuckers anymore so the chances of me having anything shipped here are very slim.
