Rhoody, the above image shows the parade starting at 2 pm, but, the Santacruzan information provided on DI news page shows the parade starting at 3 pm. Do you know which is right? Also, do you have the parade route? If you have it on a jpg, could you post it also? Thanks.
2010 City Fiesta parade was announced at 2pm, at 2:30 all participants where sweating in the sun at Robinsons and the Dumaguete Tourism Officers were sitting in their air-con house. At 3 we went there to get the answer: It is too hot. It started around 5, when they reached the boulevard it was dark and with the outstanding illumination of the dumaguete streets I felt kawawa for all participants who put that much effort into it ... (pictures of the night parade somewhere on here) Last years city-parade was also in the dark, but at least they had 2 lights at the street-dance spots where the judges were sitting. Another episode about the City Fiesta 2011 schedule of events... we asked in October about the schedule and after that weekly asking for any kind of information. It was finalized 2 days before the start (at least that is what we were told). Rechel went there and got the "finalized" schedule... it was the 2010 schedule, the year covered with ball-pen and a handwritten 2011 next to it. We only can post what we get from the City or provincial Tourism offices, which is nothing as they are watching soaps on their office-TV or posting themselves on Facebook with celebrities... I think 50 times is not enough we went there (Dgte and NegOr tourism) and asked them over the last view years to get info as we promote for free the events. However, the schedule posted on the news is from the stolen tourism office as is the poster above, the best we can do... Way too much time wasted anyway to try to pull them something out of the nose. It really feels like one has to apologize to interrupt their facebook sessions when going there asking for info... So the only thing we can do here is apologize also to all 3500 daily reader of DI, but it is not in our hand :(
And Rhooody....it could be the 100th annual parade and would still be in the same terms and conditions! :-(
haha, good ones ... maybe we can ask some DI members and at the same time MCDo patrons to drop there daily with the last free coffee and ask... that safes us the trip from Batinguel, and as the "safing the world" solutions at the golden archdiocese does not work, there would be at least a benefit for our small community here "IF" the free-coffee bribe works... ps: no McDo-patron rant, just trying to be creative...
I just call again around 12:48 noontime the Dumaguete tourism office to ask what time is the Santa Cruzan Parade 2012 is. And a guy answered me nice and polite like always, parade will start at 3pm The assemble is at the Fire station, that would be around 2pm, Start at Colon Street, the said parade will pass at Real Street, Siliman, Perdices Street, Zurban street and it will finish at Quadrangle near at Dumaguete Tourism office.
