    Ran into a checkpoint on that newly paved section last night.

    The officer was quite a dick. First ran over to me yelling, "stop stop stop!" flashing his little flashlight all over the place (I was already stopped and taking off my helmet). I said "ok sir, stopped" and stopped getting off my bike. Then he said to get off my bike; ok, no problem, off the bike. I reach for my wallet to get my filipino drivers license, he stepped back real quick and put his hand to his side, I immediately stopped going for my wallet and put my hands up. He asks for my license so I SLOWLY reached back for my wallet and gave it to him. Then he asked me where my ICR card was. I said I've only been here for 21 days (which I did just arrive back from the US) and he abruptly interrupted me and said, "I didn't ask you how long you've been here, where's your ECR card?" (note I'm note having typos here he asked for my ICR and then my ECR card). At this point I know there is absolutely no answer that will satisfy this guy so I just shut up. He then says he has to call immigration on me, I say, "ok" (and in my head thinking, "please do so they can tell you what a moron you are").

    In the end the @ss gave me back my drivers license and let me go, much to my surprise. He had a chip on his shoulder and was a way over the top. Maybe it was all the steroids this giant filipino had been taking. If he really wanted to nail me the dipshit should have asked for my registration, which I didn't have on me. Luckily he was too obsessed over the ACR card.

    Of all the checkpoints I have been stopped at not once has an officer been such a dick nor have any ever asked for my ACR card or passport (since I have gotten my filipino drivers license that is).

    On the way back into town I was on my big bike, noticing there was no patrol car this time, I didn't even stop for them.

    That is not good did he have a badge number? it most likely was a bad attempt of a shake down, but for a salary of 3800peso a month does not attract the sharpest pencils in the box, maybe a long nose took his girlfriend

    cheers
    never get between a cop and a quick peso

    If it was an attempt at a shakedown it was a p*ss poor one as you said. I didn't catch a badge number nor would I be one willing to take on such an accusation of a police officer here. Pick your battles. I also didn't have my registration, which IS current and valid but will still get it impounded, so I wanted to get out of there before he remembered to ask for it.

    Just posted it to warn anyone else who runs across this 'roid rage filipino officer in valencia. I think I have ran across this guy once before at the market and he was asking WAY to many questions about where I live and what I'm doing in the Philippines (also in an aggressive "in your face" manner). I think he's just a dick on a power trip who has something against foreigners, best to let it go, he will eventually pull that sh*t on the wrong guy and get his as handed to him. His mistake will be when he drags me into the chief's office for not answering his retarded questions.

    There is one officer in Valencia who is a real DICK and has a hard on against foreigners. He has been here forever and is locally connected/related. I believe he is related to one well known local lady who makes her living off the local expat populace, mostly in real estate transactions.

    Is he PNP or LTO? A friend of mine had a similar experience with an LTO officer on the north highway.

    The one I was referring to is PNP, I have never seen an on-duty LTO officer in Valencia, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

    Unless he had a foreign license that was not in English, and "international driver's license" is not worth the paper it is printed on. An IDP is nothing but a translation card that will translate a license into different languages, it is not a license to drive in and of itself. From Wikipedia;

    "To be valid the IDP must be accompanied by a valid license from the home country. The document is slightly larger than a standard passport and is essentially a multiple language translation of the permit-holder's normal driver's license, complete with photograph and vital statistics."
