I'd like input as to the overall cleanliness of Bacong and Sibulan: streets, shoreline, etc. And I'd like to have opinions as to the overall safety of these two places for foreigners.

I'm just looking for general opinions and experience from those living there for some time.

    Thanks.

Good questions ArtPhaneuf. I live in Bacong. You can separate Bacong into 3 sections: North - Banilad, Sac Sac; Central, nearer town center (such as it is); and South, San Miguel. Cleanliness is in the eyes of the beholder. For me, the town area is not as clean as it could be, particularly around the market. The public beach areas often have goats or even cows on the grass area before the water, again, to me the beaches are not as clean as you would like to see them. In my area, central, the streets are pretty clean but locals will drag cows and goats to vacant lots and they litter a few of the streets.
Safety is subjective. As foreigners with houses perhaps a little bigger than some of the locals, could be targets. I have not heard of any recent trouble. Firefly could probably add more to this, and there are DI members living in Banilad who could describe that section.
My wife and I are happy we built here in Bacong and have no regrets.
Note: I have only seen locals swimming at Bacong beaches. We go to Dauin resorts to go swimming in the sea. The beaches in front of the resorts, such as Mike's Beach Resort and El Dorado, are very clean and safe.
