Ok lets write this a bit differently.. I didnt really think I would find a flock of people fighting to learn how to MAKE BEER. But I surely did think I would have someone make an inquiry about drinking better than what I and many others refer to as pizzy yellow water. And that includes many a pinoy. So no one here wants to drink craft style beer at a price half the costs what it does cost you in Manila..and much less than if you paid to have that expensive stuff shipped down to you.? NO ONE?? wow..I hope this post unearths a few. I am in earnest in sharing my honed abilities with some here. I know at least one member than can attest to my most worth wares. Yes my brews sold in Casablanca resto. but the owner has joy in giving most of it away..Lucky them ~!

I like a nice beer on a vary rare occasion. Most days I am a non drinker. When I go for a beer every 10 days or 2 weeks I go for the cheap Pilsens and even then I only have one or two. If there were many like me, San Miguel would go broke.

If everyone was like I am..SM would never made a dime..and maybe the local choices would be better.. but thanks for a reply..*LOL*

While I do believe that a lot of guys stop or slow down drinking booze when they are older.. I never see a lack of expats sitting on stools on the Boulvard when I drive down there

That was your beer when they used to have a two different types of beer on draft at Casablanca last year? I really liked the Czech style one, the lighter one of the two. But the other was good as well. Much better then SMB/L. Are you selling Kegs again now?

JayBee..Im very sure the draft beer you had at Casablanca is one of SM branded/rebranded brews. No draft craft beer available here as yet that I am aware of. The only draft system in Casablanca belongs to SM. There is a bit coming to the market in Manila from local startup companies. Thus far I am aware of 3 local draft mini brewers (country wide) with one larger getting setup as we speak in Baguio. And no I dont have keg beer available while I do own kegs. That would take a lot of investment for an establishment to setup. While I would be comfortable if I had a brewclub to maintain my own kegs for sale. Im of the notion that no one else is. Selling really good beer to people that do not know how to clean a draft system and its lines is a sure way to loose all sales completely. Plus draft systems have to be sized and installed custom for every location. Its all about line pressure. Buying a supply of kegs for the dumaguete area would be a really risky investment in my mind.. *YET* anyways. That would be mass marketing level. Im still in the process to try to assess the level of beer sold down the coast to the dive folks.

I had bottled beer go thru Casablanca only.

JayBee is correct. Casablanca had 2 different drafts from Pivo Praha, a small brewerzyin Manila owned by Bravo-Golf club owner. He raised his prices that imported german beer got cheaper than a beer brewed in the PI, so the story is. but it was great stuff as long they had it.

That was really good stuff! None of the wait staff there could confirm that they had a different draft previously (no surprise) so I thought I was imagining it.

Just went to the Pivo Praha facebook page and will contact them tomorrow about shipping a keg down here for the next party.

Thanks for the details on it, appreciated!

Side note, the wait staff there are good, the older guy who moved from Sans Rival to there about 6 months ago is excellent.

Beer is an acquired taste I never acquired, although I've tried really hard. Doesn't matter who is brewing it or where it comes from, I just don't like it. I am a rum drinker. If you stay away from the 5 year Tanduay has some really nice rum. The 15 year gets great reviews world wide.

We are many and varied..Myself having been a full or at least parttime bartender for over 20 years to have some extra spend money..The earlier years with crazed hippies everywhere I think I drank at least some of everything. Even almost killed a bottle of pernod going thru a book on recipes for that. Neer hit one I could say I liked much. Beer and wine I developed more taste for in Europe and have not picked up a Bud or Coor and tons more commercial brews in the US since. In my mid twenties became a ale drinker and there was not much of that around But a single small brewer in a multi-million persons city. In my thirties I was into single malt scotches and decent burbons and whiskey blends on the rocks and could drink a dry martini.. thats just gin on the rocks too..lol But a lot of the white drinks I never got behind. Rum and the mexican Ta-kill-ya fall in there and inexpensive or top shelf vodkas are wasted on me now I fear. But beer is a lighter drink than hard liquor and the wife is pleased that I dont do a sit down and kill a bottle of black Jack which I did all too often "back in the day" .. Litterly thousands of brands are in the beer market from the USA alone and if beer wasnt made in the USA today..what else is? tattoo's ? condoms? fifthy flicks? not too much me thinks !
