Maybe they put him in a ward with lots of highly contagious diseases. Leg and arm wounds may be fatal yet.

Best wishes and speedy recovery to the officer. In the US there would be lots of cellphone footage on the web by now.

Not criticizing but maybe officers should be taught to shoot in the pelvis and not the legs when you are trying to minimize the risk to bystanders but still need to put people down.

 

I'm a center mass guy myself, saves on both court fees and hospital bills. My guess was he was not aiming at arms and legs, just what he happened to hit. I was cringing while reading expecting to see bystanders hit. I am glad they were not (unless the wonderfully detailed and informative reporter forgot that part).

 

It was the market, so I can see why they were shooting down. I would centerpunch them too if I were not in the crowded market. I usually favor a caliber that will completely pass through a human torso. If the cop was using 9mm ball, it might go through and three others besides. I don't think they have the ammo choices we have in the US, wouldn't pay the cost of it if they did.

 

That's one thing I like about the justice system here. Even after a suspect is in police custody. If the crime warranted it you are allowed to get a good slap or punch in with no repercussions from said police. For instance my neighbors daughter in Pampanga was accosted by a rugby boy (glue sniffer addict) and subsequently arrested by the barangay police for molesting the girl (about 7-8 y/o), her Mom and brother all got to take a good swipe at the kid and then all the neighbors also joined in the fun. The kid took quite a beating before he made it to the police headquarters and actually once there they had him handcuffed to the back of the police vehicle and let all the bystanders have a go at him too. By that time there was quite a crowd and the police figured let the people vent their frustrations on him so they get it out and their systems so the police don't have to deal with a riot and just let it happen (they also were laughing and appeared to really enjoy the spectacle). Darnedest thing I ever saw.. I just watched amazed at how justice here is served in the PI.
