I found this online, I thought it might be beneficial to some who are wanting to come live here and who wish to know the cost of living in Dumaguete.
It may also inform those already living here what they do (or do not) already know...

As well; people can contribute to the updating of local prices, so any long-time locals here; (with plenty of time on their hands) feel free to add to this Cost of Living Page... (You can update via the link at the bottom of this Post)

    There are taxis in Dumaguete?

    In Dumaguete:
What costs one kg of watermelons?
One kg of already parted baboy?

One of the links goes to Numbeo, as you know. I'm sure you noticed that you can put in a comparison city for cost of living comparison. From my experience the figures are not perfect but are a good guide. I wanted to mention, though, just in case you didn't notice it, that Numbeo also has an option to view crime statistics for cities and even compare two cities on that as well. The crime statistics are, I think, reasonably accurate as I think they are gathered from records and not individuals.

Watermelons around 60/70 pesos per kilo
Baboy around 220 pesos per kilo

That is around Maluay/Zamboanguita 25KM's South of Dumaguete and we buy REALLY FRESH from the Meat Shop here, so no bad smells like in the Malls, not really sure what it costs there in Dumaguete in the Markets or Malls as I cannot stand the stench of the Meat there...

Sounds quite high the prices. Saw a movie from Tagum City Public Market from middle year 2017 watermelons costing there 50 php per kg and baboy 130 php per kg.

There has been a very sharp rise in prices over the past month or so here due to the (I think?) new taxes etc to support the new President's Bucket List while he is in Office. Even Fish caught on the beach here is asking higher prices so much so it has the locals in a bit of a frenzy over who to blame. Each time the topic arises I explain if they want a rise in their Pensions, new infrastructures built etc then someone has to fund that and it won't be the rich!

What does surprise me though is it is more expensive to buy Native Chicken than to buy the chubbier Magnolia Chickens, mind you; I would rather buy a organic raised native Chicken than one pumped full of growth hormones/drugs to gain weight faster so they can send to market...

The taxes increases are not that high, that they will cause a price increase of +30% and more on many public market products. I guess that most increases are there to increase the win margin. And most stuff on the public markets are not target of any tax increasement. The only increasement I see is the one of transportation. But if that increase is laid over to the transported products the increase will be at most 1%.
