Anyone interested in forming a dart league? My new bar has an area being developed that has space for dart boards, shuffleboard, cards, chess and more. Any members that want to stop by and check out progress on the new place that opens in April are welcome. Any suggestions about a dart league are appreciated as I am not a player (yet!!). Located at km 10.9, 2 kms south of Bacong on the beach (La Toundra Beach).

Txt me for directions if you can't find me here. Thanks Gerry 09082117077 darts 1.jpg

Gerry, Please don't take this the wrong way or negative but something I feel you should think on. When I had my Pubs (2 )in the UK I had Darts, Pool, Dominoes, Crib Team and at One of them A Soccer team. being an Avid Player in all but Football I found the games fantastic when Younger. I played in many leagues over the years and enjoyed the playing Win or Lose
The Biggest Problem you may get is consistency, You need Committed Players who will turn up regularly, to Both Home and away games. This is where I think you will may meet a little disappointment. Most if not all here have escaped from the day to day Time factor and having to be somewhere for things.
I know from my own experience that you may spend a lot of time effort and indeed money for Snacks on games night to find that only 50% of your players turn up. Then you have the transport situation of the Away games.

Sorry if this is not what you want to hear but something I think you should be aware of if this is your first try at it.

I wish I was near enough to you to say yes but I am on the other side of the city and travel is just not an option to give the commitment it deserves.

Having said this (and I hope it has not Upset you) I Do Hope it will Work out and if there is ever a pure Knock out tournament the that would be so very Different.

    Regards JP

JP I don't think that a multi bar tournament would work either. These might be one day tournaments held at his bar....similar to how most of the poker is ran at the bars. Gerry might also just be putting out a feeler to see if it's worth investing in a dart board.

Agreed, just when i see "League" one Automatically thinks of Inter Bar games that was my meaning, I can however see an In House bar League working say any US and Them ( Whoever) Aus v US and Maybe a Europe team to boot but then, the team Captains would have the same commitment issue I feel on games night. Whatever, I hope Gerry can do something as I feel it is sorely needed sometimes. Just a Pity it is where it is.

We "Foreigners" surely do need that inter down time among ourselves on Occasions.

It is possible to have a one on one darts tournament, correct? Shall I check the rule book? :bookworm:

Well a 1 2 1 would be a match usually best of 3,5 or whatever games, sometimes it would be 3 games to a set a bit like tennis then most sets wins. so if you have 5 sets first to 3 straight wins or as tennis up the sets and eventually odd sets demand a winner as in tennis.
Darts saying would be game Set and Match just like tennis
To me a Tournament would be maybe a Knockout based on that involving 10 players say

But if it is Friendly, Gerry could make his own Rules of Play.

That's my take on it anyway.

See, apparently I do need to check the rule books when it comes to darts. Never played in a darts tournament before. I just assumed it would be a 1 on 1 knockout type of thing....and if you got serious about it you would have averages and handicaps with the scoring to make it a bit more fair for all.

Never heard of handicaps in Darts, you just throw the Arrow and hope your hangover has gone, although many say they throw a better arrow(Dart) when they have had a few.

BTW there are 2 types of boards. Game 301/501 is played on a Board with Double and Trebles.
game 301 is on a board with only Doubles.

501 or 301 game dart Board Treble.jpg Scoring by Deduction from start to finish busting last required score needed, previous score stands

mainly 301 game dartboard doubles.jpg scored by addition to start number ending in a Double

    anything else just ask
