Sat at Honeycomb having an ice cold Cerveza Negra when I looked up and saw what I thought was the 2go ferry on fire as it pulled away from the port. It was covered in the thickest black smoke you can imagine and eventually the smoke covered this entire ship and all you could see was the smoke. There's actually a ship behind this black soot Ok, so 2go has the audacity to completely spread that pollution over the entire bay and onto the boulevard displaying theire complete disregard for the residents/visitors of Dumaguete. What really amazes me is that nobody seemed to even care. They just accepted it. Where I come from this photo would have made front page of a newspaper and there would have been calls going into 911 for police and fire departments. People wouldn't just sit idly by while black soot is raining down.....They have self respect and these conditions don't meet minimal standards
Sorry sh*t does happen, but that doesn't mean it's normal on a daily basis. I just talked to a business man and he said, he and others are very upset at the situation and have already started to do as much as they can. That being said, who knows if this incident will be noticed or not by the "in charge". Ron
I was just replying to the remark made on how you cant really say anything cause you havent been in this city long enough. I can tell you now that based on what I've read, and seen, you dont need but a week here to know that people dont care. Not all people, but a lot of them...
Best Environmental laws in Asia I am not sure that everyone is aware how environmentally sensitive the Philippines are these days. The Philippines was recently praised for having some of the best environmental laws in Asia by the UN. Obviously the UN did not research more to find out if any laws are enforced in the Philippines: "The country’s laws on climate change adaptation (CCA) and disaster risk reduction (DRR) are the “best in the world,” UN special envoy Margareta Wahlström said Thursday. Wahlström, special DRR representative of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, praised the Philippines for taking the lead in the global campaign to mitigate disaster risks brought about by global warming. Wahlström stressed that both laws highlighted the policy shift from a reactionary to a proactive stance in addressing disasters." I would say it is proactive in "Bola Bola" and less than reactionary in enforcement. (go ahead a correct my spelling on "Bola Bola" For further reading on the subject read: UN lauds Philippines This reply may be in the wrong tread...feel free to change this reply to "where is the humor" thread.
As everybody that has CNN on her/his TV, will know ""In the Phillippines it's more fun!!!"" Everytime I see this RIDICULOUSE add I can only shake my head at so much ignorance and pride displayed together. But why is it like that, together with all the other S... going on in the entire World I would be almost convinced that we indeed are close to the end...
Then they say they need to raise prices as their maintenance costs are so high along with the increase in fuel prices...That is money (incompletely burnt fuel) going straight out the pipe. A few possible causes for this to happen 1. Worn out fuel injection system. 2. Worn out engine parts, pistons, rings, cylinder liners, cylinder heads and valves. 3. Worn out turbo-chargers. 4. Wrong fuel for the engine type... 5. All of the above... Most of these ships were junked by the previous owners, either Chinese or Japanese. Here they are some of the newer vessels and would not be able to pass any International Standard but they are just fine here for the Coast Guard.. floating death traps..O-|
The UN officials must have closed their eyes when seeing guys urinating from the wall on Rizal Avenue Boulevard................:D:D:D Paul.
