Hello everybody Looking for input for the best way to bank should I keep a bank in the states for my social security and then open a bank in the Philippines and just transfer bank to bank
This has been discussed thoroughly in a recent thread. Keep the US bank account, open a local dollar account. For the reasons use the forum search feature.
Expats here do it both ways. I have my SSA and VA monthly EFT to a BDO direct deposit dollar account.
Rye is right this time, do a "Duma Info Search" at the top of the page. The top part of the results are paid ads (wow, really, but it's free?), look below that for existing threads. Problem is many results are years old (no time filter, right??)... Also right about banking (also see more thorough thread elsewhere). We have: US: bank account; credit card; low limit credit card for internet PH: bank account dollar; bank account peso; Optional for PH are checking account and credit card
There are two search options on the forum. One is the more prominent Google provide search that comes with ads, the other is the forum search feature at the top right of the page (which loads a forum provided search page that also provides the Google search results that can be closed).
