    I stayed in the Dumaguete Springs Apartments opposite Hyper Mart for one month having all prices and terms agreed by e-mail with the Austrian proprietor. When showing me the apartments the very first time I was promised WiFi internet connection, but when checking in I was advised by the staff that there was no connection in the part of the hotel I was staying; I kept reminding them to rectify this, but to no avail, the WiFi did not reach our apartment for all of the 30 days of our stay there.
    When checking out I was shocked at the ‘additional expenses’ being charged by them:
    In addition to the agreed monthly rent plus electricity and water charges, they charged me with cable TV (which had neither been discussed nor agreed), WiFi internet connection (talaga! I am not joking!), and “cleaning”, in spite of us having the hotel’s cleaning lady do a thorough final clean-up the day of our departure, as had been suggested by the owner himself for us to save being debited for it.
    Now, almost one month later, our deposit has still not been paid back to us, and it seems the owner has no intention returning it, in spite of his staff’s repeated promises.
    Let him donate it in my name to the Red Cross or any charity in the Philippines!
    Should you decide to use this establishment, make sure you double/triple check the bill they present to you.

    Now that would sure make a bad reputation. :( Thanks for sharing. Hope the owner of the apartment is a DI member also and is reading this post so that he can share his part of the story. No offense tommytnf. It would be unfair not to hear from his side too. Hope all will be settled peacefully. :smile:

    We Have Received A Comment By Mr. Tommy,were We Reply As Follows:
    Part 1 Wifi Connection:
    There Is Wifi Connection At Every Single Dumaguetesprings Apartment We Rent ,and So As At The Apartment Mr. Tommy Was Renting From Us.[apartment No. C]
    When He Came To Rent Our Place He Ask For Internet And The Same Day We Called Our Service Technician Alex From Algorithm To Check Out His Computer If Suitable ,and To Put In Our Password So He Can Access To Our Wifi Internet.alex Confirmed To Me That He Had Tested It Out And Worked Perfect .
    2 Days Later Tommy Told Us That He Can Not Send Any E Mails To His Server In Spain,but Have No Problem To Log On To Yahoo,google Or What So Ever.
    We Using Globe High Speed Internet Here [unfortunately Not 100% Reliable Here In Dumaguete,which Is Not Under Our Control].
    So We Ask Alex From Algorithm To Come Back Here Again, And To Re Check To This Issue.alex Again Confirmed To Me That Our Internet Is Working Fine And Tommy Can Log On To All Web Sites Without Any Problems,but There Is A Possibility That Globe May Have Some Problems With The Server He Is Using Back In Spain For His [tommy.s] E Mail.
    So We Told Tommy There Is Nothing Much We Can Do On Our End As This Problem Have Nothing To Do With Our Wifi Internet Connection,but With Your Server Back In Spain.alex From Algorithm Told Me That This Would Be Exactly The Case,but He Will Still Try To Talk To Globe To Find Out If There Is Anything They Can Do On This Matter To Help Tommy.
    Alex In Total Came 4 Times To Tommy To Try To Assist And We [ds ]have Payed For His Visits.
    Mr. Alex From Algorithm Can Be Contacted At His Cel At: 0917-3044219 To Verify Our Correct Story To This Issue !!!!
    Part 2 Contract And Payment:
    Upon Checking In To Dumaguetesprings Mr. Tommy Was Presented With Our Standard Rental Contract To Review And To Sign.
    This Is What We Do With Every Client Once They Want To Rent An Apartment From Us,so Both Sides Know All Conditions Of A Contract.[in Most Cases And Upon Request We Send The Contract In Advance Via E Mail To Our Clients]
    My Staff Kept On Asking Mr.tommy Every Day And For Almost 3 Weeks To Sign The Contract,and To Receive The Down Payment For Rent,and Mr. Tommy Kept On Saying ,,ja ....tomorrow ...tomorrow ..,,and So On,until I Told My Staff That I Will Tell Him Now And Ask Him What Is Going On And What Is Wrong With Him!!!!!
    At Our Contract All Details Are Very Clear Available What Is Included At The Rental Price And What Is Excluded.
    Mr. Tommy [acting Now As He Is Very Smart]told And Confirmed To Our Staff That He Has No Problem In Paying For The Internet Etc.,as Otherwise We Would Have Removed The Password From His System.
    Mr. Tommy,s Intention Was To Rent Our Apartment For One Year,[so At Least He Pretended To Do So]in Order For Us That We Give Him A Lower Monthly Rental Rate In Comparison To Our Short Term Rental Prices. ,,very Smart Strategie By Mr. Tommy !!!!,,[at Least That Is What He Thinks!!]
    After 3 Weeks And When We He Finally Told Us His Real Intention And Story That He Is Looking To Rent A House And On Request Of His Girlfriend,we Finally Came To Know Why He Never Signed The Contract For One Year,so He Have No Legal Obligations To Us And He Can Just Move Out On A Very Short Notice.
    If He Was Not From The Same Origin Country As Myself,i Would Not Have Waited For So Long Especially When He Told Us That He Can Not Pay The Requested Down Payment And Refundable Deposit,because According To Him He Presently Do Not Have The Money Here To Pay.
    On Checking Out He Refused To Pay For The Internet [according To Him He Said He Never Used It!!! ?????]and We Also Had Problems With His To Pay For His Utensils .
    We Called In His [tommy,s [presence Alex On The Phone ,who Again Confirmed To Him That All Was Working Very Well,and He Told All That He Would Pay For It .
    Now We Had To Deal With All This Issues ,and We Reminded Him That All Along He Was In The Possession Of All Conditions For Rent By Having Received Our Contract.
    When He Consulted Me On All This Issues At My Office I Drop Most Of Our Demands On The Outstanding Payments ,just To Get Rid Of Him.

    What I Have Learned Out Of This ,,saga,,is
    ,,be Always Aware With Whom You Dealing With,,

    In This Case A Guy From My Own Country!!!
    We Have Since Black Listed Mr. Tommy On All Our Business We Have Here In The Philippines.

    Archie, you were so right in your remark about hearing the other side of the story.
    Even when (also ?) the second story could be "coloured", at least it tells us to be carefull with negative promotion.
    It would be different if more clients had these same complaints.
    I hope for both parties (owner and clients) that that will not occur :smile:

    How much do they charge for monthly rates?

    Internet would be the very first thing I would check before even considering dishing out any cash. You mentioned the Wifi didn't work at all but the reply seems to indicate that it did work. So, which was it?

    About the WiFi... DumagueteSprings says they are using Globe. I had Globe in Cebu... and voided my contract and switched to PLDT for exactly that reason. Same when I got to Dumaguete... Globe was pre-installed. After 2 months I switched to SMART BRO. Globe is fast when it works, but there are many sites that are inaccessible. I haven't had that problem with SMART. Maybe not quite as fast, but certainly much more reliable.

    If its permitted, either of them can post a copy of the contract here. Or perhaps the policy and rental contract of the hotel.:cool:

    I was considering moving to this place, however I need a place that I can have my dogs.

    If you look at the website, the terms are listed there. The terms are definitely in favor of the management, such as the early termination penalty of two month's rent - even if the tenant has to leave country unexpectedly
    . One thing that puzzles me is why in addition to the monthly rental fee there is a 700 php fee imposed for pool maintenance. You would think that when you rent a place with a pool that there wouldn't be a surcharge of that nature. What if you agree not to use the pool? Do you still have to pay the fee?

    I wonder what other "extras" there are. In my opinion, Tommy was probably trying to get over on the owner and the owner was probably trying to profiteer off of him also.

    Accidentally double posted, but wanted to add this anyways..

    Off topic but good information:

    If you are having problems accessing certain sites through Globe or Smart, you can use openDNS (google it) and you will not have any access problems.

    The place- Dumaguete Spring...is very nice place...
    We will move there with my friend...and before we saw the apartment they tell us that there is 700php fee 4 swimming pool, that we need to pay 4 cable TV, water, electrisity...so I did not see any problem up to now...

    RELAX...life is 2 short,
    hehe it's funny that some people enjoy if they're making problems 2 themself...hehe
    enjoy every1...
