I need back fill and top soil to fill a lot previously used as a rice field. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It is great to be back in Dumaguete.

    Welcome back.
I got mine from the quarry in Valencia, top soil above the hill from the quarry. you want to make sure it is treated for ants. I will pm you my contact (I got it through my builder), if you are interested.

Out of curiosity, how does one treat a large volume of fill dirt for ants?

Not sure what process was used, I will find out for you. I do know I got charged for it and it took about 5-6 mos. for the ants to dominate like they are now. Waste of money? Maybe, but a couple forum guys advised to do it.

You boys probably ended up with contaminated fill dirt, just like I did, it's sh*t that was dug up from the mouth of a river or the dredgings of a river or bay.
I never got rid of the ants, and nothing would grow. I had to dig it all out and replace it with PRE-INSPECTED topsoil.
    Lesson learned.

I did around 240 mini dump truck loads of a good fill dirt material, then after lot's of compacting I had a fumigation company pressure treat the soil by pumping insecticide 1.5 meters down before building over it. I haven't had any problems except the normal small black ant's that find any scrap dropped food.

If you haven't found fill materiel yet I can see if the guy I got it from is still in business.

Thank you for the information, I would not have thought about contaminated and or ant infested soil. I would appreciate your contact information Ron and approximate cost of fill dirt. Mike

Hi Mike, I haven't been able to reach him yet, but I will keep trying. 4 years ago I paid P350 per mini dump truck load.
