Just as a heads up to everyone All flights to Dumaguete from Manila are cancelled today and possibly tomorrow due to smoke from forest fires in Indonesia. Asked Phillipines airlines if they are providing hotels for everyone stranded, apparently not. Weather sir......
18 flights canceled due to bad weather, haze Just a press release to add to this previous post. 18 flights canceled due to bad weather, haze Jack
that's why you buy trip cancellation.. same thing happened to me last year about this time.. stuck in the manila sofitel for two days living like a fat cat.. courtesy travel insurance..
I never thought of that at the time, we bought the standard Philippine airlines insurance, must go and check
i i it depends on what airlines you fly but some offer it at ticketing.. if you have a us credit card it is also usually included when you charge all your trip on the same card.. when i travel i purchase Allianz Global Assistance Classic with Trip + .. avail online.. i get it mainly for the emergency medical/evac.. in 3rd world countries it can mean the diff between life/death (helicopter ambulance vs kamikaze v-hire ambulance/animal control)... the travel/baggage coverage is just a part of it.. it not expensive either.. if you have both the cc is secondary to ag.. but i got stuck in manila earlier this year and the cheapest good hotel was over $300 a night and meals ran another two hundred in the hotels restaurant.. ga covered it all..
that is fortunate.. would like to know how the airline insurance works out.. if you dont mind.. i dont trust airlines..
I always purchase the insurance on my international flights. I've used it a couple times when my dates had to change. I have never purchased it from the actual airline though, I almost always buy my international flights online through Expedia or another similar website.
