    Hey!

I hope some of you can help me out: What's a good bar in Duma for a first date? I am looking for a place with some music but still quite enough to do lot's of talking. Should be a bar not a restaurant of some sorts... and a nice place. And of course not so packed, escpecially since I am going on friday?

Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated...

Is the Black Pearl still open? I would take Her there, unless You don't want to be outdoors. Not sure if Emeryk is still the Owner/Partner, but there is a selection of music They will play for You, unless for some reason They happen to be having a band that night. Cheers

Emeryk does not own the bar any longer. It is still open though. No bands any longer. I would say that's a good choice for a first date if going after 6pm.....good food, good ambience, privacy and a swimming pool. Bamboolo (spelling?) might be good but the food is shite. Hayahay would be another good choice but stay away from the band area if you want a conversation, pick the tree house. The hotel next to Pirate Bay has a nice resto. Mike's Beach Resort has good food and ambience with a pool and a decent beach. Edelweiss has good food and is aircon. Captain Ribbers decent food and a new aircon room.

I know there are more places but just woke up and my brain isn't working yet.

Those are all good choices, although a few of them being a little ways out of town if that's not too much of a problem. "Bambulo" is the correct spelling, and I only know this because I recently found out about the place on Tripadvisors website.Looks like a nice place with a swimming pool that has a built in slide along with a Cave, Plus it's not too far from Our house in Bacong. I've always liked Edelweiss, the only problem is that if You're a Non-Smoker it tends to get really smokey in there.Just wish They had a better Ventilation System in there.Cheers....

By the way, what's the name of the Bar that's open at nightime right beside Hypermart that shares the same parking lot? Is that place still open?

I would not meet any girl in any foreigner bar anywhere in the Philippines at all. I might meet them at a Filipino videoke-type place, but not at a foreigner bar. Even at a Filipino videoke-type place they might not like it - Filipinas just do not really drink alcohol and there might be too many lechy drunken Filipino guys around behaving rudely. I'd likely choose quite a decent videoke place with reasonably good pinoy food and with no other foreigners around. Foreigner bars are completely out for me for dating Filipinas. If there is any other women there they will be very likely to be professional foreigner-shaggers or hookers (is there a difference?) and I wouldn't want to get off on that footing. I generally avoid the foreigner bar scene completely, when I am with a girl. That goes for anywhere in the Philippines, not just Dumaguete. 95% of the time if I am spotted in a foreigner bar, I will have gone in there alone.
