MY Esperanza of international environmental organization Greenpeace docks today at the Dumaguete City Pier. The Esperanza is the largest and latest in the Greenpeace fleet.

Everyone is invited to the open ship tomorrow (July 13, Saturday) at 9AM-5PM.

Greenpeace is partnering with Silliman, through the Institute of Environmental and Marine Sciences, on its reef check project at Apo Island. The reef check is done to determine the extent of damage of the coral reef in the area following two recent typhoons and an earthquake that hit the province of Negros Oriental.

I used to be a Greenpeace supporter (and contributor), but when they reverted to one-sided actions by dumping large rocks in the sea off the northern coast of The Netherlands to prevent fishing there I changed my mind. I no longer support an organization that knowingly and willingly puts others lives in danger (a net caught by these rocks can flip over the vessel and crew can drown), no matter what good cause they are pursuing.

Hmmm, it would seem to me that these people would be fishing where they are not supposed to be fishing? Going on that principle, one best not go to McDonald's, as they knowingly and willingly put an armed guard on duty, and he might shoot a would be armed robber, thus putting the armed robber's life in danger?

Come to think of it, better not go anywhere in the Philippines, as organizations and businesses everywhere here knowingly and willingly have armed guards.

I think if you want to go onto the boat you are supposed to register on their Facebook page via a link to their site.

Thanks for the heads-up, but I cannot find anything on their website, nor their Facebook page, that alludes to the fact one must register for admission. Can you provide the appropriate link to the info? Thanks!!
